HELP! My computer won't boot properly.

Ok, my ATI 550Pro TV tuner came loose again (it happened when I first installed it and the signal was very weak until I reinstalled it) so I went into my computer to reinstall it. All goes fine. I turn my computer back on and the fans (video, chipset, CPU, PSU, case fans, all of them) spin up at full speed (they don't slow down after a minute as the BIOS tells them to), and the DVD drive and floppy drive do not light up and the optical drive won't open. The light on the motherboard still goes on when the PSU is on, but the computer's power hasn't been pushed. I've tried unplugging and replugging the power and DVI, etc. to no avail. I also took out the TV card but nothing's changed. Am I right to assume this is a problem with the motherboard? But what went wrong? What else can I check? Please get back to me soon. Thanks.
 
What do you mean it came loose? It fell out of the slot???? Or did the cable cable just disconnect?

If the card came loose while the system was running, it is possible that you shorted something out.

But first, just unplug everything and reset the CMOS. then plug it back in and see if it boots.
 
Like the picture was very grainy at first. It happened once before and I pushed the card in a bit harder and then it worked. I took the card out though so that's not the issue. I did take out the CMOS battery for a while.

One new thing I noticed: in addition to the optical drive's lights and the floppy drive, the case lights don't light up either. No power or HDD activity light.
 
If I had shorted something would it have still turned on as it did?

Can anybody who has this board think of some small jumper I might have hit or something near the PCI slots?
 
If you fried something on your mobo, then it would do somthing like that. Take out any unnecessary cards (only leave video), unplug all IDE devices (IDE cables and power cables) and see if it boots then.

There can be power going through the cable cable so if it isn't grounded properly, you can fry something. Plus, when you pull cards out while a system is running, you can also fry something. This is why you always should screw your cards down.
 
It didn't help. I feel like I fried my mobo. Would this have maybe harmed other components too or is that only likely if it's the PSU?
 
Does DFI have warranties on their motherboards? It's something I never considered before but I can't find anything on their badly designed website.
 
All mobo companies have warranties. But if it is indeed broken, it is your own fault. So a warranty wouldn't (morally) apply... and if they see it is your fault, they won't fix it anyway.

But you should start trying your components in another computer to see what still works.
 
How is it my fault if it broke? I didn't do anything wrong. Could someone please tell me the likelihood of the motherboard partially frying would cause other components to fail? And I sent an email to DFI, but if anyone knows another way to get at warranty information, I'd appreciate it.
 
Yo I did screw my card in both times. Sorry I didn't explain clearly, but I did. The first time, it seemed like the card was in securely, but I was only getting clear audio with very shitty video. I turned off the computer took the card out (after unscrewing it) and put it in again, this time pushing it in very firmly. The graininess reappeared two days ago and I repeated the procedure except this time my comp got FUBARed. I really didn't do anything wrong man.
