Help, my computer is totally forked up

Anywho, over the weekend when I was visiting colleges, my brother ruined my computer. All my programs were crashing and I was getting random reboots.

The HDD was making some weird noises, but that may have been a pre-existing condition, as I usually don't pay attention to that. It wasn't too loud, but I could hear it if I listened closely.

I checked my one memory stick (512MB PC3200) with Memtest86 and it checked for 1 hour, 44 minutes before I stopped it. It said it found 300k+ errors and I got tired of it.

At this point I decided to just format, so I backed up some important crap on my iPod and formatted my 40GB and 160GB Maxtor drives.

Now when I try to install Windows XP, I format to NTFS fine, but as soon as it starts installing, I go to blue screen and get:

I get this problem no matter what the partition size is, and I've used both of my HDDs as the master. Because both of my drives don't work, it might not be a HDD problem, but sites I've Googled tell me to run a chkdsk (I will when I get home.)

Anywho, how would I go about fixing this problem? Is it my HDD, RAM, or maybe even my DVD drive?

I found something that might fix it through Google, but I want as much help as possible because I'm at the library right now and I don't have the patience to drive 3 minutes back and forth to my house and keep checking on problems.

If I have to order new stuff, I will I guess, but I'd rather not go that route Also, I have no idea how all this stuff got screwed up, my brother just said CS:S froze for him a few times yesterday while I was gone.

I hope I get this all fixed soon, at least before HL2 comes out

PS: I haven't overclocked anything, so that's not it.

I wouldn't do anything till I replaced that memory. Memtest doesn't lie most of the time. Try some different ram and see if the loading errors go away.

Also run the mfg's utilities disk on the HDD your trying to install to. It might have problems.
