Not sure what the problem is, ... but ever since I built my new 64-bit rig in February (w/Vista Ultimate) it has never been "snappy." As an example, I just put a DVD movie I recently recorded and went to play it in WMP and the playback was stuttering.
Also get graphical problems playing Battlefield 2 in which the frame rate drops on occasion to an unplayable state.

Is it that I am only using 2gb of memory (should I increase it to 4gb)?

Thanks!!!

Here are the rest of my specs:

watching your task manager (sorted by cpu usage) doesn't yield any clues? you mentioned BF2, is it only unplayable every so often, or do you consistently get unplayable frames?

ie: my rig was freezing intermittently a while back, and by leaving task manager open on my 2nd monitor and watching what happened during hangs I was able to see that my browser was spiking to 100% usage on java heavy sites.

Thanks for the idea, but I tried that and found nothing too noteworthy.

Any other ideas why my AthlonX2 is not running so smoothly??

Vilhiem is my cool big Brother :D

Anyways my other Brother and myself helped him put his system together, and it is just very strange the way it operates. I built myself a similar setup around the same it had a AthlonFX-60, 2gb DDR400, 150gb RaptorX, and 8800GTX, and it ran Vista64 very smooth, and the games I did have installed like WoW, HalfLife2, QuakeWars, etc... all ran very nice. And the overall system felt pretty fast.

But my brothers system never felt like that even though our parts were close to the same. Only big difference I had was the 150gb RaptorX only drive I had in system, he has the 74gb Raptors and several other hard drives connected, he uses a cordless mouse which to me makes his system feel slower or jerky never liked those cordless mice, also he runs a Creative X-Fi sound card I don't like their drivers I have a Razer Barracuda AC-1

Just not sure why his system operated so different than mine ??
