i bought an pc case chenming mid tower with its front broken. insted of trying to fix it i think it will be easer and more fun to build a new entire front.

this is how the case looks like without the front:

what i want to do i something like this:
http://picturepush.com/public/10518388

my idea was to use some wood (red) as primary item and then cover it with steel from old cases that i will cut ( grey)

i will also include a blowhole as included in the picture

my main doubts are:
MIS PRINCIPALES DUDAS son:

1) what tipe of wood should i use ? should i cut it myself or send it to the carpenter ?
2) how should i paint the wood (red part) so it becomes resistant to scratches and "hits" (i have already read some guides for how to paint the steel part )
3) plz comment and suggest

ty in advance
sorry for sloppy english and if i posted this in the incorrect forum
