Hey guys... Having random restarts and I am not sure where the problem lies...

Its not heat related.

I dont think it has happened once when the system was stressed, ie in game

The computer doesn't BSOD, it just freezes and restarts. After restart it is fine for a few long while then it happens again.

My money is on the ram but my memtest CD doesn't work. I'll be burning another and running that while I sleep.

What component should I look at next?
 
Please post full system specs. is your system overclocked? you may want to test ram individually.

Lol... if I was OCed I'd obviously have a pretty good idea where the system instability lies...

2500k with a gigabyte z68 b3 d3
2 sticks of budget ram
samsung f3
Vertex 2
PC P&C 750w
Variety of video cards

If I test the ram and it passes, what do I test next? I am thinking of leaving the SSD out of the system and see what happens... Any suggestions?

EDIT: I should not that none of the fans stop spinning when it restarts but the hard drive seems to stop and restart.

What's the size, speed, and voltage level of the RAM?

Which specific model is the PC P&C power supply? How long have you had it for?

You may want to try a barebones bench test. (You should also check out the rest of the troubleshooting sticky for more ideas.)
 
RAM Its the only piece of my current setup that I purchased new :D

The PSU is a Silencer Quad that I have had for maybe 2 years...

I am not new to this game... I am not expecting a specific answer to what is wrong with my computer. I just thought someone might read my description of my restarting and say, "you should test XXXX next..." because I dont really have a good hunch as to where the problem might lie...
 
In many cases, it's simply a matter of trial and error. Based on what you've said so far, I don't know what could be causing the problem. Hell, it might be the power supply for all we know.

You did not even post your system specs to begin with so we had to start at square one.

Do you have spare components to test with? Do you have a multimeter? How long did you run memtest? Test #7 usually points out errors fairly quickly. Memtest may not point out all ram errors in a short period of time. Have you tried stressing the processor with linx/prime?

If you don't have spare components and the bench test doesn't improve stability you can try under-clocking your ram, or rasing the voltage.
