Got a new e4300 and installed the SMP client without much trouble.

How in the heck do I get my name and team in the console????

The set-up instructions dont help me.
Please advise and treat me like a console noob. My other boxes run the graphic client.
I cant figure this out for the life of me.

Thanks.

When you run the console for the first time, it asks you for all the info. Username, team number, etc. If you somehow missed that the first time, you can run fah again with the -configonly flag and enter all the info. Example of the shortcut with the configonly flag: "C:\Program Files\FAHSMP\fah.exe" -configonly

It didnt ask me that at all. All I see on the console is the default.
Where do I type in the -configonly shortcut????

Right click on the exe and select create shortcut. Right click on the shortcut and select properties. In the target field, add -config only to the end as shown in my example above. Click apply and ok and then use the shortcut to start folding and it should ask all the questions. Be sure to say yes to big work units.

This is also the same way to create shortcuts for starting folding with the flags you wish to run. -forceasm -verbosity 9 are the two you will most likely use on the smp rig.

Thanks.
This is all new stuff and I got a little baffled.
Does the SMP really crank out alot more points per month????
I had three single core boxes all about 3 GHz and the best I could do was 7000+ per month.

IF that 4300 is at stock speed you can expect somewhere around 800 PPD. Those overclock really well, so you could bump it up to 3ghz for some serious output. That E6700 in your sig would be good for around 1700 to 1950 PPD. ;)

The 4300 is on a cheap ASUS board that wont OC at all, which is too bad.

My 6700 is exclusively for gaming!

Team 33 is for the [H]orde

so enter "33" without the quotes when asked for your team

good luck with the SMP

:)

I game on my 6400 while it folds SMP (I never turn off folding) and everything runs just fine. I can play FEAR @ 1920x1200 with everything at max and it just keeps right on chugging..My folding #s tank as far as time per frame while I am doing it but F@H does a spectacular job of releasing cycles when something else asks for them.

Although I don't game often, I've never noticed any performance hits with the console running. However, as Tormond points out, folding takes quite a hit. If you're running EMIII to monitor folding, the warning sound that signals slow folding frame times (an elephant screech) can scare the hell out of you in the middle of a game!

Try gaming with folding and let us know. It would be nice to have that 6700 folding for the cause.

Fold on!

Very True, I am guilty of this too :p

Thanks guys, I have a number of boxes that fold full time.
My gaming time is limited, so it would take forever to crank out WUs on that machine (6700).
I do have another computer that use to surf and do my pictures, etc....its an OC e6300 @3.1 Ghz that is going to start the SMP units as soon as I get this one i'm typing on set up.

That will bring my total box count to 6!!!!:D

Conquering cancer one day at a time.

Edit: Took killer[mob]s advice and instructions, console up and running without a problem. Both cores pegged at 100%. woot!
