I got a 2600+ mobile. runs great, awesome overclocker.

2500mhz (12.5x200) at only 1.70v perfectly.

but here is my problem. My A7N8X del 2.0 or its my CPU (brown) wont boot correctly at a higher multi past 12.5. if i boot at 13 i get a 1000mhz cpu.

so anyways i upped my fsb. had it at 12.5 x 210 @ 1.825v 2626mhz and passes prime95 with no problems, passes memtest with no problems. but my computer will freeze when i play UT2004, after like 5 minutes of play. so im thinking its just my motherboard that is pooping out running a 210fsb. could that be the problem?

if you guys can think of anything let me know, im gonna get back to diagnosing..

i think its my psu.. anyone suggest one? i definently have a lot in my case and this stock 420w is not going its job.

When you say it passes Prime95, how long are you running it for? And memtest too.

And 420 W PSUs would work for most any system out there, but what kind of PSU do you have?

the one that came with my case, probly costs 10 bucks. i have been planning to upgrade it. it passes prime95 for 30 mins but then crashes in 3dmark01 after like 1 minute. passes memtest for 20 mins too.

i usually run prime95 for 16hrs but i have never seen prime95 pass for 30 mins then 3dmark01 fails within a minute.

i think it just when my 9800 pro kicks in and my Hds start it just causes too much volt flux for my cpu to take.

to put it in another way my cpu runs prime95 for 30 mins @ 2640mhz but then locks up 3dmark01 in 1 min @ only 2500mhz. bring my processor to 1.65v @ 2.2mhz and 3dmark 01 runs fine.

i believe its your motherboard. i sold the same board to my dad and remember the settings doing that with a multiplier above 12.5 or so. you might be able to fix this issue with a new bios flash, im not sure which one if any to suggest.

you OC'd it too far. probably ram or CPU..ive never heard of a barton reaching 2.6

where you been? youve been missing out on all this mobile barton goodness. it is quite possible, on air even.

Only 30 minutes in Prime95? Not long enough. Especially if it crashes like it is doing.

Be patient, run it overnight+

I recommend 20-30 hours.

ppl have gotten up to even 2.9Ghz from a mobile

tried every Uber bios and standard bios.

i totally agree with you but this processory went 30 mins with prime95 at 2650mhz but even at 2500mhz anything where my 9800 pro kicks in and my HDs start going it crashes. right now im at 2200mhz at 1.65 and my rails dont flux at all. second its at a higher vcore like 1.75v at higher clock rate it fluxes from down to 1.60v to 1.85v. im almost 100% positive this psu cant handle that. because when im only running prime95 its ok cause my 9800 pro isnt sucking much power.

If you think the power is a problem, go for an Antec or Enermax PSU, both brands have very good reputations. There are a couple of other brands that are good, but these are the names I see thrown around the most. Anything around 450 or 500 watts should be good for anything you can throw at it.

ive read that only DFI nFII boards can use 13 and up, and maybe newer NF7 2.0's but im not sure about those.

Just give it more volts until its stable at 2626 MHz, duh!

it runs perfectly stable at 1.75v, but anytime i run a game where my 9800pro kicks in it becomes unstable. i have tried 1.85v just for the hell of it, and it still passed prime95 until i opened a game..

just gonna pick up an antec..

Same board, same chip, same problem. I haven't really looked into it much, but I have flashed the latest Asus BIOS to it (10/2003) and its still a no go. I think it's the fact that the chip is a mobile because my 2500+ desktop XP could use 13 and up. EDIT: Come to think of it, I'm not completely sure about that fact.

Not that I'm really complaining. I got my 2600+ M for $60 (after selling my old backup) and got 2.5 GHz out of it stable. Also running at 28C right now on my water in my warm room here.

Hello.....umm, the 13-24 multi vs 5-12.5 is controlled by the 5th bit of the multi bridges. Your MB is not diddling the 5th bit, so its at a default 5-12.5

If bios upgrade wont help, then it is likely not wired, ot the connection is not working and was never checked in manufacturing.

In that case you can just put a jumper on that pin to force 5-12.5 or 13-24x but a DPDT switch wired up to allow either grounding or Vcore'ing the pin to select would be better.

Try upping the voltage to your video card a bit. Might help.

I had my mobile 2600+ at 2.64 (220*12) at 1.9v (cpu-z only shows 1.85v though), and it primed for about 30 minutes, then errored out.

but 3Dmark2001se ran fine.

I just ended up clocking it down to 220*11.5 on 1.85v (1.77 in cpu-z) where its prime stable for everyday use.

the rails to my cpu core go berserk when my 9800 pro kicks in, i really dont want to increase the voltage to anything right now, afraid of blowing my psu. but what you write is the point im trying to explain. i have never seen a cpu that would prime for 30 mins then fail in 3dmark01. i have o/c older cpus to extreme limits where the second i click on tourture test everything would freeze but then it could past 3dmark01 with no problems with that same o/c. anyways thanks guys for the input, let this thread die until my new psu comes in then ill post with results.
