I know this gets asked just about every other day, but I couldn't find a thread similar enough to my own wants to make a decision. My budget is about $600. My needs are basically desktop computing (coding, internet browsing, writing). I just want a massive display for getting work done,etc. I would also like it to look as good as possible for video, but this is secondary to the text. I'm picky, but not extremely picky about things like backlight bleeding and banding. Also, I know I stated the budget at $600, I would like to get the best bang for my buck and get out as cheap as possible. I really appreciate the input guys.
 
Gateway FHD2400 ftw its great i have it and it has some backlight bleeding but not enough to bother me.A simple fix is to turn down the backlight which is set extremely high when you get it.And no problem with response time either.
 
I recommend the Soyo 24" monitor. There is a huge thread here regarding it. I bought one and I love it. The only problem you might have with it is if you want to play Blu-ray movies, the monitor doesn't have HDCP, it only has one VGA and one DVI input.
 
At half the price what is the quality difference like between the gateway and the soyo? Has anyone owned both and able to comment. The Soyo looks kinda junky in comparison.
 
Westy L2410NM at Best Buy for $349 this week. Apply a coupon for even cheaper. This
is probably the best "budget" that you can get model. *VA panel and a healthy dose of analog
inputs. However, the value is not as good at full price obviously. For the price I paid, I am
more than satisfied with mine.
