Help me Overclock

I just got my new rig. Its working pretty great except at the overclocking level.

Here it is.

Opteron 165 (freezer pro 64 AC cooler)
evga k8-Nf41
2gig OCZ pc 4000 gold
evga 7800gt
300 gig sata maxtor on sata 4
LG DVD burner
antec
antec 120mm fan exhaust at the back

I have pretty much succeeded at no overclock at all. Playing with timing or HTT is preventing the pc from booting. Just OCing the HTT without the ram is more successfull however 250 x9 is very unstable.

The CPU temp is about 40 at Idle. So anyone got any Ideas. Maybe a compatibility issue between ram and board?

The eVGA motherboard just died on me. When it wouldnt boot anymore I got scared that the mobo might not be the only thing gone. Anyway I got myself a Asus AN8-sli this afternoon and once setup it booted up fine and overclocked pretty easily. Getting 34C on Idle and 46 on max load with a 250x9 overclock. Not particularly Impressive but it should do for now.
