I think my motherboard is the problem, but what yall think:

Abit Is7
P4 2.4c M0 sl6z3 Costa Rica @ 3.4 (1.625v)
Watercooled
PC4000 in dual channel
I good little NB cooler

284 fsb @ 5:4 divider
locked AGP ratio
66/33

I think the 865 Chipset is holding it back, or the Chip is at its maxed. I can get it to boot at 3.5 and it shits out at 3.6. But its stable at 3.4 all day.

Thinking a abit max3 or something.

Anyone with this board got any tips?
Play with the PCI bus clock maybe?

heh lol. Im not upset at all. I couldnt be more happier with it. Just trying to make sure there is nothing im configuring wrong on it or a little tweak i could do.

But your right, if it goes no higher im already extra happy.

3.6Ghz no prob... but at 3:2 coz el cheapo apacer RAMs that don't really like OC maxed at 3.78Ghz with unstable OC...

also i think your voltage is kinda high... i'm just running 1.55V in BIOS but reading 1.50V in WinXP

other than that my MOBO just flashed to v2.0, and the rest of mobo is stock
 
you used 800 + wet/dry ? until you saw ... copper shine through ? That needs to be done reeeeeeeeeeeal carefully. You should say that 3.6 from a 2.4 on air is NOT common or easy ... not responsible. its the exception to the rule , not the rule. Anyway GL gclg2000 and tell us what you finally decide to do. :)
 
im going to sit tight for right now. I still have to adjust my 9800 block and remove the shim and mount it. Neither block is lapped yet and just got some shity thermal paste on there now, imma see if the AS5 stuff really holds true. 32 C for now. My guess is it wont go any higher, cept with a good 875 chipset board.

My next little project is going to be volt modding my 9800pro, i think i got a rare one. I got it to 460 core and 378 mem with a heatpipe. So maybe i'll get above 500 with it. I should be doing that within the next week or so. Had to wip out the sauder pen and practice a couple times to get a steady hand again.

Stay tuned for my "how to cut up a spark 7 heatsink to use for your video card memory chips......."

i've only gotten my system stable at 3.6Ghz after lapping my CPU to cooper shine.. before that i've only gotten to 295FSB stable... at 300FSB it'll hang as soon as a run benchies

i was using 600 grit wet then 2000 grit wet for both cpu and HSF...

both lapped on flat ceramique kitchen sink... 2 hours of labour there.

you gotta becareful as the pins are easy to bent... i bent 2 of my pins during lapping :p
