Help me optimize my 4 HDs please!

Right now here is my plan for these, please comments.
I believe with my new rig (3500+ w/ 6800GT SLI), the bottleneck will be HD access.

Serial ATA Drives:

1x 36G 10k RPM Raptor <-- Windows
2x 120G 7200.8 Seagate <-- Raid 0, Install games and assign page file here.
1x 80G 7200 RPM Maxtor <-- Storage of MP3s

I also have a few old 20g drive that could be used for page and temp files here too.

I could also do Raid 1 on the 2x 120G Seagates for Mp3 file archives and then just use the 80G for games and page file.

I wonder how much of a difference would the raid 0 of the seagates vs the 80g maxtor for games...
How else would you spread these?
 
I presume that buying new drives is not an option, so we'll work with what you got.

I would put stuff like Anti-virus, security, anything that runs in the background, on the Raptor with Windows.

MP3s and Page File on the 80GB. Where you put the page file isn't a big deal - if you're relying on it, you need to add more RAM to your system.

One 120GB for games, another for a Ghost image of the OS and backup of the MP3s. You can also combine the two into a RAID-0 and allocate them the same way, but you won't see much of a boost in your tasks and you'll increase the risk of data loss.

Video, MP3's, Files, Back-up on the 300 GB HD.

Sound Reasonable? or is there something to be said for a 3rd HD

Perhaps a 32 GB 10,000 RPM Drive set up,like this:

32GB 10,000 = OS, Maintenance
72 GB 10,000 = Games, Software, Office, Video Editing
300 GB 7200 = Video, MP3's, Files, Back-up

Any comment or suggestions??

The 36GB drive (assuming you are not going SCSI and mistook the 36GB raptor) is slower than the 74GB drive so OS and Background apps would be better there.

gotcha. that is what I meant... I guess my question is more do I want my OS seperate from the other programs? Lets say I have a second 72 GB drive would that be better?
 
Ideally, after boot up, your OS drive will not see much action, so you should be fine storing your frequently accessed programs on it. As the demands from the OS drop when you get to desktop, the task of loading your programs picks up. The scenario you describe, with the Raptor for holding OS and programs, and the 7200RPM holding music, movies, etc really is the sweet setup right now. You will not be disappointed.
