Help me with my OC I am not used to this bios in the
P4C800 deluxe E. I can OC to 220 and my memory is 440mhz but when I switch to 240FSB and 394mhzDDR (320mhz in bios) my system reboots at random I have tried upping the voltage on the cpu but it hasnt worked. Is it I just got unlucky on my CPU? I haven't been unlucky yet ocing but I guess theres a first for everything. I really want 250FSB and I know my memory can go up to 440 at least.

Am I missing something?Any suggestions in Bios settings would be appreciated or just tell me I need to return this sucker. I just have been up all night trying to get this to OC I know youve guys have been there.

I still have to say I really like this board. Everything runs so much smoother and my games are off the hook now they are really fast compared to my IT7 I guess dual channel helps and the 8x

what are your voltage readings in windows? and what did you set then in the bios
random reboots usually means you're not getting enough power
and what kind of powersupply you got?

I have an antec 430watt true power
It posts all the way up to 270 but once I see the windows logo thats it.
maybe its because I am using the promise ide raid. My bios settings are auto performance auto where it says turbo and I have tried all different ddr timings. my 12 volt is a little low 11.97 but everything else is exact. I have gone all the way up to 1.725 to try and get stability but none. I am going to try to disconnect some fans and see if its drawing too much current.

at least at 220 I have turbo and performance enabled.
and my timings are 2-3-3-6 I get 5416 in mem benchs

hmmm...seems like you and me got similar probs
somewhat....
i can post and get into windows at 260..but no post at 267
gonna switch out the board on friday to test if it's the board's bad voltage regulation
that's what my guess would be
and even if you have a good powersupply like your antec or my enermax, the Asus is known to have voltage flucutations when the cpu is underload...
for example at 3.77ghz 251fsb i set the voltage in bios at 1.7
but underload in windows using asus probe to monitor the voltage rails i see a drop of the Vcore from 1.725 idle , to 1.58 to 1.6 under load
i'll verify this when i get another board this friday

yeah please let me know Its boring only ocing 10% I am not sure if its the board or the cpu I guess I will find out I know its not the memory or the psu

I wish I could I might just buy one at compusa and return it just to see it driving me crazy I really think its the fact that I have it in ide raid or my pci isnt locking like it should

I just found out damn that sucks I might try anyway and talk my way out of it I am in WA state right now and thats all thats here besides BB and CC this town sucks

oh well...try to get out of it if you can
if not at least you'll know what's the deal is with your comp...
keep me posted

you know what sucks is that I have a 1.6a but that wont help me to see if its the mb because it doesnt go past 160fsb and they are out of 2.6c's in Compusa because I would just swapem if that was the issue:eek: lol I would too
I dont know what to do now I would hate to buy a 2.4c and find out it oc's like a mofo and then have get another cpu cause I aint keeping a 300.00 compusa 2.4c processor.

2 questions though
are you using the onboard sound?
and are you using raid ide not sata?

lol you must live here too I just moved here from the Bronx not too long ago. Did it for the wife all her family is here. I am going to move to seattle I just cant take this small town ignorant mentality anymore. I really hate it here.

Anyway I updated the bios to 1016 and reinstalled xp pro I am going to try to oc it when I get home. I was getting some stability issues at stock but now it seems ok after reinstalling with the new bios. If thats all in my mind I dont know.

found out anything mewanna? I think it is the cpu but I will find out soon I am going to return this one and get a new one from where I bought it

i'll have some info for you either friday night or thursday at about 11pm
haven't gotten over the testing period at my school so no time to mess with the comp too much
and you should go exchange or return your cpu before the return warranty runs out

i tested my cpu in another board Abit max3...wouldn't even boot at 3.77mhz:confused:
so i just returned the chip
