Help me mod my 9500 pro

I was just about to upgrade from my 9500 Pro to a 9800 Pro (I NEVER go to the top of the line, ridiculously priced cards....just to what will give me good peformance at the time) ....when I came across some references to the 9500 -> 9700 mod. I had fogotten all about this beauty!!! I avoided it then because nothing I played at the time stressed my system.

I have an ATI Retail boxed 128MB 9500 Pro card. I have been happy with my card's performance up until now.....DOOM3 changed that! A slight stutter even at Medium quality is ruining the 'experience'.....enough so that I have stopped playing until I get this remedied.

Can someone tell me how I can ensure MY card is a good canidate for the mod and step me through it? I'm sure this has been covered before and I've even come across SOME info...but it is old and refers to 3 series Catalyst drivers.

Only the standard 9500 non pro with an L-shaped momory configration can be modded into a 9700... the 9500pro cannot be modded.
