2.4@3.4, stock voltage
^thats as high as it can go no matter what voltage

Saphire 9800 non-pro @ 410 core 335 memory
^highest it can go w/out artifacts

Ram @ 190mhzx2 so 380mhz, this is because im using the 3:2 buffer

aight ive run 3dmark on the different memory GAT settings and get about the same score

19,550

ACK i just want over 20k haha, anyone have any suggestions

yah its all high performance and everything

id be crazy happy if i got that score with quality setting

Can you used the 5:4 ratio and run the ram at ~228mhz x2 ?

Doing a quick search on 3dmark orb I see that a 3.36ghz P4 with 280mhz fsb and a much more overclocked 9700pro than mine still cant beat my system. Just shows you how high the memory speed on a P4 has to be and the closer it is to the FSB the better.

Get some better memory if you have to and run sync.

:)

This gets me like a extra 200 or so.

Remove yer desktop wallpaper.
Set res to 1024x768 or benchmarking res
Turn of XP Theme and use the 95 Clasic, Takes up less recources that gets you them valuable points.
Shut down as much proggys as you can, bedies 3dmark, taskmgr and there is on other one, well gl hf

Just turn your textureLOD down so that it looks like a shitty blurry mess.

aight ill try all those things

what is that texture thing your talkign abou?

open up the registry look for:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Video\{bunch of random shit}\0000
You will have a few of these depending on how many video drivers you've ever installed. Look for the "Catalyst_Version" that is the same as your most current one, as in 4.1 for example. now under that same key look for "TextureLOD" this is the level of detail bias for DX texturing. A value of 0 is quality and it get crappier as you go up. Values in the 3-8 range will make the textures look like total ass, but it will run the bench faster.

Running poor quality textures is a very common technique to getting high scores in 3DMark01, as are some of the other registry settings you see in that key. Keep in mind that really high scores on '01 tend to be CPU limited so there's a lot to be gained on the processor side of things as well. As you would guess it has zero revelance on acceptable gameplay quality, but it makes the numbers go up.

aight if i put it at 8 can i use system restore to get all the settings i change back? or should i just do it manually

some say to use DirectX 8.1 wich 3dmark 2k1 was design for, in order to get higher score.

I switched to DX9 and 4.1 catalyst and my score went up 300... Almost the exact opposite affect from nearly every other person who's benchmarked.. Or maybe it was a higher gfx OC that did it...:)

lol

man, be happy with what you've got. The system in my sig only just hits 10k (at least until tomorrow, when my r9800np turns up). 'course, I refuse on general principle to reduce my quality settings. guess i'm just an ass like that :p

whoa, that only hits 10k??? damn son heh

Yeah, the 9600's shite. It's basically castrated to 400 core/400 mem, against 400 core/600 mem - how on earth they had the cheek to call it a Pro I don't know. Just goes to show that the performance of the 9600 core radically decreases with lower memory bandwidth.
