Don't need anything too powerful, I think 500w would be enough, but I want Modular. whats cheapest decent I can find?

What is your target price range, because cheapest isn't necessarily going to equate to decent with some modular PSUs. That might allow others to help you a little better with special offers that are going on and such.

Antec and Seasonic make some good ones. Cheap is not the way to describe them.

I really don't recommend going cheap on PSUs, especially not with modular cables. Modular cables = increased cost so if they are cheap, that implies they are cheaping out on something else. I know spending a lot on a powersupply isn't fun since it doesn't directly improve your experience, but I've seen too many systems with bad PSU problems.

It isn't just things like a system getting damaged, but it can be things like random crashing or lockups. We had a system at work that had a bad case of the gremlins, but passed every single test we could run. Finally, we tried swapping the PSU with a new one. Gremlins gone.

I'd say drop $100 and get a Corsair HX 520. No, it isn't cheap but it is modular and a really, really good PSU.

I got a new HX 520 for $78 shipped from a retailer on eBay, so that might be a good place to check.

i say for your budget range, forget modular, you can easily hide wiring in a case if you even give it a few minutes thought and effort, the Corsair VX450 is a good choice, but the Antec Earthwatts 500W is the same PSU, made by Seasonic, just got one from the egg myself

damnit, looks like the sale price is gone...i only paid $59 for my Ea 500 :p

it runs the system in my sig fine, quiet and cool, the specs on the egg are wrong, the Ea 500W i just got is rated for 22A on both +12v rails
