My trusty pair of in-ear Shure E2C's have started to crap out on me (right bud goes out randomly :( ) and so I want to start looking for a replacement.

I use these mainly for listening to music while at the gym, running, or in between classes at school. My top priority is comfort and the ability to stay in my ear while moving although sound quality is obviously important too. I listen to mp3's and these are going to get very sweaty and abused, so I don't want anything terribly expensive. ;)

Any suggestions?

Are your earbuds still under warranty? You might want to try and call Shure for a replacement before looking to buy another pair. If not, then maybe the V. Moda Vibes, Ultimate Ears Super fi. 5, Etymotic Er4 series, or maybe step up to the e4c's.

I wouldnt get E4C's for working out thats alot of cash. Give the $50 V-modas a try my brother got a pair and they sound ok and seem like they can take a beating.

They dont sound quite as good as my E2C's but they should get the job done for a workout session.

I can say you probably wont like the earbuds on them but i do know that the ones from the E2C fit them perfectly.

I feel like such a fanbo..er..."boy that is a fan" for pimping this website all the time, but for people that are trying to decide what headphones to buy, the folks at HeadRoom really know their stuff and write excellent reviews of their products on their product description pages. I think if you're trying to decide if you want to upgrade, they might be able to help you.

That being said, for the pricerange that the E2c's are in, it's hard to beat the quality that they give you. It's also very difficult to find another IEM that is going to stay in your ears while you work out as well as Shure's do. Still, for comparison I would suggest you take a look at the monitors that Ultimate Ears make, but in the end I think you're going to want to stick with your E2c's.

Headroom has a nice selection and thier reviews are ok (I disagree with a few) but thier prices are absolute crap. their charging $119 for a pair of E2C's wich can be had for half that price easily.

Evereything they have on their site can be had far cheaper than what they charge.

As far as info about headphones go Head-fi >>> Headroom

Right. I can't argue with you on the prices, but for a quick, simple, easy to find review of the pros and cons of most headphones, I think HeadRoom is the best place to look. Call me lazy, but I'd rather have something that's comprehensive and easy to read that tells me what I need to know rather than spending ten minutes to find a review with all the technical jargon that they throw in at Head-Fi. Either way, both are still excellent resources.

Ya its really a matter of preference and for the most part Headrooms reviews do give a good general idea but i think people should narrow it down between a few choices and head to head fi with any remaining questions.

I really just dont want to see anyone here make the mistake and get overcharged there.

i agree with the warranty suggestion first. i got my e4's one ebay new shipped for 160. the e3's can be had for 130ish though i paid retail (like a dumb a**) and the e2c's are about 60 granted you get no warranty to accompany that beautiful price. for me a direct replacment would be best if placed in your situation.
