Help me find a great case!

Ok, I am spent. I have been looking around the net for a perfect case. I found one about 4 months ago on Newegg.com but didn't have the money for it. It was a server case, that was like a super full-tower. The HDD removable tray was above the power supply in the back of the case.

I can not find another case online like this. This is why I need help. I need to be able to mod the case to fit all my water cooling gear inside. I thought maybe a chieftec case would work, but it doesn't look like there is enough room to put my radiator in the bottom front.

I would prefer a steel case, but could do with one thats thick aluminum.

with or without ps it doesn't matter... I really want the turbo cool 510 or whatever its called, but I need the case first so I have plenty of time to mod.

Sorry if the answer is available by searching this forum, but the search is just not working for me.

thanks for any help.

Take a look at this Chieftec, i'm pretty sure it's big enough for you're needs. Here are the dimensions 470x205x670. I have this same Chieftec but mine is black and has a window on the side. The thing that is great about this case is the amount of air flow that goes through it. Plus, the case has five 80mm case mounted fans. Slap in an Ultra 400Watt ATX Power Supply with 120mm Cooling Fan and you're good to go. I have the same PSU and it's just great. Here are the links.

Case looks cool, but I'm going to have to say you could do better on the PSU. Check out newegg's Antec, Enermax and Fortron PSU's.

Thanks for the link, that is definately a large case.

But, I am looking for a case that has the hd rack above the power supply. I really do not want to mod a case to put the rack there.

Anyone else see a case like that before? I wish that Newegg still carried them.

Any particular reason? I personal think that is asking for trouble as the heat kind of will stay there and just produce more since right ontop of PSU and small quarters around it with no fans to be found in that area. Soo yeah. Why? =D

Well, I would not worry about heat in that area, because I can add fans to the case to keep the air-flow up in that area. The main reason to have the hd rack above the ps is: I want to have as much space in the bottom front of the case for my rad and pump. I also would like to have my hds far away from my danner mag 3 pump, since it isn't em shielded.

thanks magic h8 ball. that was one of the ones I was looking for. Wierd, I went through every case at newegg, but didn't see it.

I know they had 1 or 2 other cases like that, just no ps with them.
If I can't find the other ones, I think that one will do.

bump.

anyone else have a case idea for me? the last one looks good at first, but the wires at the bottom front will be a huge problem if I try and mount my rad there.

Any help at all would be appreciated.

With a little work you should be able to fit a 120mm fan on the front of the case I posted.

You'll have to chop off part of the metal bracket for USB /Firewire ports but it will work.

The power / reset button assembly clips onto the front metal panel and will overhang the fan opening some though.

I have this case and I'm thinking about going watercooled this summer.

I took some pics of how you could fit a 120 in there... i just need to find an image host.....

EDIT: Found an image host.

Note: a CD is pretty near 120mm

Why put the hd's above the psu though???? I would buy a few hard drive mounts for 5.25 drive space *not the ones that have external face plates, Im talking about the small racks that attach to the hard drive and mount to the inside of the 5.25 drive cage* and mount them up with the optical drives. That would be a much better solution than putting the drives above the psu and would open up your case selection options.

..... so wasting space by leaving the area above the PSU completely empty is a "much better solution?"

What else would you put up there?

Lots of things come to mind. One, another 120mm fan to pull air off the optical and hard drives, two, the pump, three, a smaller psu for a TEC system. Basically I would put something that is not as affected by heat as a hard drive is. Besides, in a full tower you have 6 bays in the front, what are you going to use that space for?
