I decided to do a new EVGA x58 Micro build. My 2209WA monitor is coming in a few days so I am ready to purchase everything now. It will be my main PC and be on 24/7. I will only be using a single video card.

1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? Etc
Flight Simulator for gaming, Photoshop, Office, Web browsing, Itunes. CAD. HDTV

2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
$1000 - $1250 Yes

3) Where do you live?
Oshkosh,WI 54901

4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. Please be very
specific. Everything but Monitor,Keyboard & Mouse

5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
None. I will sell my old system as is since it works well. My Keyboard,Mouse and Monitor are black so a black case is preferred.

6) Will you be overclocking?
No, But I want a fast machine that does multitasking well.

7) What size monitor do you have and/or plan to have?
New Dell 2209WA
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
Now

9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI
support? etc. Onboard sound

10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license?
I want 64bit OS. Win 7 preferred

No time to scour the net for stuff....

i7 920
evga x58 matx
6gb ddr3 1600
Nv gtx 275 (cuda can be used to cad right..?)
Lian Li V351, SS Sugo series
Corsair HX620, SS ST70F or some other modular PSUs
WD6401AALS

AutoCad Lite 2009

I also had a few ideas for some of the parts.

Antec Mini P180 Black case
CORSAIR DOMINATOR 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600
EVGA 121-BL-E756-TR LGA 1366 Intel X58 Micro ATX
Thermalright TRUE Black 120 Rev.A CPU Cooler

- Just to make sure, you're aware that the P180 mini is only an inch or so shorter than the regular P180/P182?
- Dominators are overpriced.
- You're not overclocking so why bother with getting a TRUE

+1 lowtech, Xigmatech Dark Knight comes within 2-3 degrees of the True at 1/3 of the cost.

I was thinking of not even bothering with a HSF since there's no O/Cing. Like slapping a turbo on your engine but the most you'll ever go is 60mph :p

The P180 mini would work better for me.
Will a 10,000RPM drive be much faster for loading like say Microsoft FS X ?
Are you better off with a NVIDIA based video card?
Since the case is smaller I thought it would be better to have a cooler like the True Black installed for longevity?

Thanks for the help on this

EVGA 121-BL-E756-TR LGA 1366 Intel X58 Micro ATX

COOLER MASTER RS-600-AMBA-D3 600W

What Seagate drive? Both recommendations from low and shiro were for the WD6401AALS.

I believe there are softmods for each GPU (ATI/NVIDIA), so the choice is yours (to get the most performance out of your card when doing CAD), IIRC. ATI has the most bang for buck right now.

The size of the TRUE will impede airflow in a smaller case. Stick to the stock cooler if you're not OC'ing. If you just want a better cooler, then the Dark Knight would be better bang for your buck.

You are correct my mistake.

I clicked on the link and Seagate came up.
What fan for the Xigmatech Dark Knight cooler?

It is starting to come together now. Any suggestions to tweak it more?
Any deals that will help?

"Quiet" is subjective to a point. If you find the fan to be too loud, you can replace it later on with a Scyhte S-Flex low speed fan.
