I'm in the market for a new monitor and currently using a Samsung 1050p monitor that I had bought used awhile back.

my specs:

AMD A10-7850K
ASUS A88X-Pro
Patriot Viper Extreme Division 4, 1866mhz
Sapphire 290X

Games I play: BF3, BF4, Skyrim with texture mods, Guild Wars 2, Civ 5, new releases of Assassin's Creed and Tomb Raider series

I really like eye candy but at the same time I'm torn about getting 120+ fps monitor for BF4 and any other FPS games I may play in future.

Budget: I have a $150 gift card to best buy plus maybe I'd spend up to $300 on top.

Do you want to stay at 1080p? Do you care whether it's a TN or IPS panel? Are you only interested in purchasing it from Best Buy?

If you want to reach 120 fps on ultra settings for the games above, you will need to add at least 1 more 290X.

If you like eye candy / image quality I would recommend IPS.

GW2 looks much better on my P2414H, compared to my Samsung 2032BW (TN 1050p).
I see smoother shadows / gradients, shades and hues I could not decipher before, the world looks even more rich in detail.

Color coverage does make a difference in games like Skyrim, GW2 or AC, on Ultra settings. Add some AA and it looks almost like a painting.

I don't think BestBuy has ANY 120Hz monitors available online or in store.

I think I'd sell the gift card if that's true.

Hi, sorry I haven't responded till now. I had changed the email address so that I could get immediate response at work. Then it wouldn't let me post. I just now figured out to change email address to previous one and now I can post again.

That's the big thing I'm on the fence about. I either want 1080p at 120hz or 1440p. I can't seem to decide which route to go.
I'm not just interested FROM Best Buy. It's just that I have $150 gift card for there so I can spend $150 more there than other places.

Thanks. I could get another 290x by selling my 2x 280x's + some other hardwares.

That Dell monitor looks like a great value. Problem is that it probably wouldn't do well with BF4?

Sure does seem that way ATM. Been such a pain finding anything. I just don't think I'd find anyone willing to buy a $150 BB gift card for its value.
