Hey guys, i am buying PC for friend and i found two options for PC at around the same price. Now 1st one is custom made pc, and 2nd is already assembled so some parts i don't even know manufacturers or motherboard type  I know sounds stupid, but still, from first glance which PC is better? Purpose: mainly gaming and regular stuff.

Now 2nd is much easier, i just go and buy it and no assembling required and CPU is good, GPU as well. The only problem, i am not sure about manufacturer of HDD, RAM and Motherboard, those parts seem quite cheap.

Option 1:

GPU: Palit GeForce GTX 650Ti 2GB DDR5 (128 Bit), DVI, mHDMI, WOW-Pandaren Monk Game
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 3.5'' 500GB SATA2 7200RPM 16MB
RAM: CORSAIR DDR3-1600 2*4G CL9 VENGEANCE
Motherboard: PRO4 ASROCK S1155 Z77 DDR3 USB3 SATA6 ATX
CPU: Intel Core i5-3350P, 3.10GHz, 6MB, LGA1155, 22nm, BOX

Option 2:

GPU: NVIDIA® GeForce™ GTX650 Ti OC 1GB DDR5 (panaši sparta kaip GTX560OC)
HDD: Toschiba 1000GB SATA3.0(6GB) 7200RPM 32MB
RAM: Crucial 8GB (2x4GB) 1600Mhz DUAL CHANNEL DDR3
CPU: AMD Bulldozer FX serijos 6100 ( 3.3Ghz / Turbo frequency 3.9Ghz / 6-branduolių procesorius / AM3+ / 95W )
Motherboard: Asrok AM3

***EDIT***:

OPTION 3:

GPU: VGA PCIE16 HD7850 2GB GDDR5/OC 11200-14-20G SMALL SAPPHIRE
HDD: Internal HDD Seagate Barracuda 3.5'' 500GB SATA2 7200RPM 16MB
RAM: CORSAIR DDR3-1600 2*4G CL9 VENGEANCE
MB: ASUS P8B75-M / Intel B75 / 4 x DIMM, Max. 32 GB, DDR3 Non-ECC, Dual channel / Expansion: 1 x PCIe 3.0/2.0 x16, x PCIe 2.0 x4, 2 x PCI / Storage: 5 x SATA 3Gb/s, x SATA 6Gb/s / Realtek 8111F Gigabit LAN / 8 x USB 2.0, 4 x USB 3.0 / uATX
CPU: CPUCI3 3300/3M S1155 BX/3220 BX80637I33220 S R0RG IN

Ty very much!

What PSU is being used for all three options? Who built option 2? What's the price tag for each build?

To be honest, each option has problems.

Oh s*** i forgot PSU.. How stupid i am. Brb rebuilding my rig.

Option 2 is already built PC in shop, everything already in place, but as you know it's marketing, like 6 core CPU and lots of HDD space, but bad MB, RAM, etc.

Price tag, it's in my currency in Europe, so won't help much, all i can say all 3 options are the same price tag. That said i must add PSU still..

***EDIT***

Ok, so ignore Option 1. Let's compare Option 2 and 3. I'll add PSU Corsair CX 600W for Option 3, which i think should be sufficient? This is custom made PC:

GPU: CLUB 3D HD7850 PCIE 1G D5 COOLSTREAM
HDD: Internal HDD Seagate Barracuda 3.5'' 500GB SATA2 7200RPM 16MB
RAM: CORSAIR DDR3-1600 2*4G CL9 VENGEANCE
MB: ASUS P8B75-M / Intel B75 / 4 x DIMM, Max. 32 GB, DDR3 Non-ECC, Dual channel / Expansion: 1 x PCIe 3.0/2.0 x16, x PCIe 2.0 x4, 2 x PCI / Storage: 5 x SATA 3Gb/s, x SATA 6Gb/s / Realtek 8111F Gigabit LAN / 8 x USB 2.0, 4 x USB 3.0 / uATX
CPU: CPUCI3 3300/3M S1155 BX/3220 BX80637I33220 S R0RG IN
PSU: Corsair CX 600W

Since I added PSU, GPU of course must be changed due to price, what about this:

CLUB 3D HD7850 PCIE 1G D5 COOLSTREAM
Specification (i can translate if something not clear): http://img203.imageshack.us/img203/2717/captureze.png

Don't forget the case too. Please tell us what case is being used for each option.

Option 2 shouldn't be considered at all since the CPU is significantly slower than the Core i3 3220 CPU (assuming that the CPU you meant to put down). With that said, Option 3 isn't terribly great either from a long term perspective considering that more games in the future will be taking advantage of multiple cores. Hell there are games out now, Far Cry 3 and BF3, that takes advantage of multiple cores. So if your friend is looking for longevity, I'd try to cram in the cheapest Core i5 CPU you can find into that build.

In addition to the CPU being a possible issue, that mobo is a tad overpriced IMO. Is the Gigabyte GA-B75M-D3H available for cheaper than the Asus? Also, is there any cheaper 1.5V RAM available?

The PSU is a tad overkill. You should be fine with the CX500, especially if it allows you to have a faster CPU.

And again, what case are you planning on using?

Nah, it's rig for my friend, and I will prolly give him my old case which is Nexus, really cheap case. Well i am already over the price limit even without the case, so dunno what part to cheapen

Sec, Danny, then gonna change some stuff as you said and will update soon!

It is basically a bad idea to cram in high performance parts into a cheap case that cannot provide sufficient cooling for the parts. So we're gonna have to find a way to cram in a case into that budget.

Is there any online store that you're planning on shopping from that you can tell us about? We can look up the parts ourselves. Also, your total budget for the PC will be needed as well.

Yes there is a shop, but there are no English translation of it:

Here are 1155 MBs: http://www.kilobaitas.lt/Kompiuteri...ocket_LGA_1155/CatalogStore.aspx?CatID=PL_625

Here are GPUs(sorted by price from lowest): http://www.kilobaitas.lt/Kompiuteri...stes/PCI-E_16x/CatalogStore.aspx?CatID=PL_433

CPUs: http://www.kilobaitas.lt/Kompiuteriu_komponentai/Procesoriai/CatalogStore.aspx?CatID=PL_420

DDR RAMs: http://www.kilobaitas.lt/Kompiuteriu_komponentai/RAM_(atmintys)/DDR3/CatalogStore.aspx?CatID=PL_426

GA-B75M-D3H is available in another shop, but the price is exactly the same as this Asus.

Also, the price total must be ~1600LT. You can find total list here: http://www.kilobaitas.lt/Krepselis/CartStore.aspx :D

I must think about the case, cause if I select decent one, then GPU will be much slower.

Your last link doesn't work because we can't see what it's in YOUR cart. Online shopping doesn't work that way.

Also, I use Google Chrome as one of my web browsers which has the ability. auto-translate certain languages. In this case, yes Google Chrome can translate Lithuanian to English :)

I know, i thought it will open your own cart. Either way you can find cart here: http://img254.imageshack.us/img254/7039/capturesvi.png

Btw surprised that AMD Bulldozer FX 6100 3.3Ghz 6 core CPU is worse than dual core i3 3220 ;o

And i5 won't work i guess, it's well over the budget even without the case :D Then i must take like much worse graphics card.

That's what I got:

CPU: Intel Core i3-3220, 3.30GHz, 3MB, LGA1155, 22nm, BOX
PSU: Corsair CX 500W, 80 Plus Bronze,
GPU: CLUB 3D HD7850 PCIE 1G D5 COOLSTREAM --> http://img203.imageshack.us/img203/2717/captureze.png <-- is this ok?
MB: ASUS P8B75-M / Intel B75 / 4 x DIMM, Max. 32 GB, DDR3 Non-ECC, Dual channel / Expansion: 1 x PCIe 3.0/2.0 x16, x PCIe 2.0 x4, 2 x PCI / Storage: 5 x SATA 3Gb/s, x SATA 6Gb/s / Realtek 8111F Gigabit LAN / 8 x USB 2.0, 4 x USB 3.0 / uATX
HDD: Internal HDD Seagate Barracuda 3.5'' 500GB SATA2 7200RPM 16MB
RAM: CORSAIR DDR3-1600 2*4G CL9 VENGEANCE

So that's already max budget limit. If i want to add case i must get something else cheaper, not to mention the i5, which is out of the price range.. Well i can take chaper MB but it won't even have USB3.0 then.

All right here's what I recommend:
371 LT - Intel Core i3-3220 CPU
211 LT - Asus P8B75-M Intel B75 mATX Motherboard
63 LT - Kingston KVR1333D3N9/4GKC 4GB DDR3 1333 RAM
368 LT - MSI R7770-PMD1GD5HD 7770 1GB PCI-E Video Card
169 LT - HITACHI Deskstar 7K1000 0F10381 500GB SATA HDD
189 LT - Corsair CX500 V2 500W PSU
213 LT - Corsair 200R ATX Case
----
Total: 1584 LT

Yes we took hit everywhere but at least there is room to upgrade later on.

In gaming, yes the FX 6100 is worse than the Core i3. In video, 3D, or audio editing/rendering, the FX 6100 has an edge.

Thanks, good idea with Ram, we can always add more later if needed. :) Now the only thing is graphics card. This HD7770 is much worse than HD7850.. And PC is mainly for gaming, but I guess not much we can do with such budget.

My friend uses 20" or 21" or so monitor so i guess this card will be fine for him :)

Yeah if you had a better case or had extensively modded that case for better cooling, we might have been able to fit in a Core i5 CPU.

I wonder if it's worth adding Powercolor Radeon HD 6870, 1GB DDR5 (256 Bit) card if price would allow? Checked the reviews and it performs better but also read it's quite similar.

The budget won't allow for it. However even it did, I still wouldn't recommend it since it has a bad price to performance ratio. In other words, it's actually more cost-effective to buy either the HD 7770 or the HD 7850 than the HD 6870.

I see.

Now I got advice that case + PSU cost way too much for this whole rig

What about:

PSU: Corsair VS 450W ATX 80 --> 1.5 times cheaper! --> http://www.kilobaitas.lt/Korpusu_ma...atalogStoreDetail.aspx?CatID=PL_403&ID=450939 But is it enough power?
Case: Eurocase ATX 5410 Midi Tower --> 3.3 times cheaper! --> http://www.kilobaitas.lt/Korpusai/E...atalogStoreDetail.aspx?CatID=PL_402&ID=366962

With that in mind I can now pretty much fit i5 processor :D or is it bad idea?

Bad idea. The PSU hasn't been properly reviewed by any good PSU review sites out there. So I can't say whether or not that PSU is actually any good. The case is just crap as it doesn't have good cooling due to the one 80mm fan it has. Modern PCs need at least two 120mm fans. No less than that. So yes both are bad ideas.

GPU: VGA PCIE16 HD7850 1GB GDDR5/11200-16-20G SMALL SAPPHIRE

So what about this :D 7850 ofc great, but very cheap PSU, wonder if it's good, chieftec is not bad AFAIK. Now all I need is non-expensive case with dual 120fans, which seems very hard to find. Any known midi towers with dual 120fans out there? Because i checked so many still can't find :/

Chieftec is not a good PSU brand. As for cases with two 120mm fans, the 200R I recommended has two fans. Other cheap but good cases I'm aware of that has two 120mm fans is the Coolermaster HAF 912 and NZXT Source 210 Elite. No I do not recommend any of the cheap Antec cases unless they're literally half the price of the Corsair 200R case I recommended above.

As Danny stated, Chieftec is not a good PSU brand. Here's why:

Like most if not all brands, Chieftec simply re-brands its PSUs that are made by other companues. In this case, Chieftec of late re-brands lower-end PSUs from HEC/Compucase and Sirtec/Sirfa - both with a questionable-at-best reputation even at the high end of their lines.

So i decided to go with this setup. Friend said little big over budget is fine, so gonna go with HD7850 card :) For case, just gonna buy extra fan for it. so it's good cooling.

i3-3220 371 Lt
Asrock B75M 203 Lt
Corsair 2x4GB 1333 134 Lt
Club3D 7850 1GB 547 Lt
Hitachi 7K1000.C 500GB 169 Lt
Samsung DVD-RW 50 Lt
Cooler Master Elite 310 107 Lt
Corsair VS450 120 Lt

Total 1700Lt.

Now my last question, what would be better, this i3 processor with 7850 card, or cheapest i5 quad core processor with HD7770 card?

I still don't trust that PSU since there's no info whatsoever on it being actually good. That case is a bad choice. If you're gonna insist on making that horrible of a mistake, at least mitigate that mistake a tad by cramming that case with as many 120mm fans it can fit right now. So that means you have to buy two more fans, not one. But if you think it's good cooling, you're sadly mistaken: That Coolermaster 310 doesn't have cable management cutouts, the HDD cage still has a bunch of metal which limits the airflow coming from the front fan, nor is there a top fan placement.

Long term wise, the cheapest i5 will win out since newer games will take advantage of multiple cores. Which means that you won't have to upgrade the CPU for years. You just have to do a simple GPU upgrade in the next year or two and you're set for quite a long time..

Short term wise, the i3 + HD 7850 wins out since the GPU is faster. But like I said earlier, you may have to upgrade the CPU later on to handle newer games which more than likely means a new CPU, mobo, and RAM.

Well it's Corsair PSU after all, it will have a warranty. I mean there are worse PSU people using for many years.

Now on case, I agree with you 100%, but i don't have any more money to throw on case. I know it's no cable management and bad cooling, but what can i do it should be fine. Nearly 4 years ago I bought i7 cpu with HD4890 and like worst case in the shop - no cable management, card barely even fit, but at least 2x120 fans and temps were always good, and i used that case for 2 years without any problems. Now i have Corsair 500R case with 4 fans and cable management and you know what? Temps are pretty much the same. :)

I know it's much better to have a good case but those are not high-end parts which needs so much cooling and space. It's just feels wrong to spend on case+PSU more than cost my graphic card

Last I checked, Corsair warranty doesn't cover the entire PC when the PSU kills the entire PC. Remember crappy and shitty PSUs can kill PC hardware.
I mean there are worse PSU people using for many years.
I hate it when people use this argument: There are tons of old people who drink and smoke everday and are alive and kicking. That doesn't mean that drinking and smoking everyday isn't bad for you. Same applies here: Just because there are crappy PSUs out working relatively ok doesn't mean that crappy PSUs are worthwhile to use.

Now on case, I agree with you 100%, but i don't have any more money to throw on case. I know it's no cable management and bad cooling, but what can i do it should be fine. Then something is wrong then. You shoulda noticed a temperature difference.

Anyway, you did have money to throw on the case as I clearly showed earlier. But due to your odd experience and weird uneasiness, you went a route that wasn't optimal at all.
I know it's much better to have a good case but those are not high-end parts which needs so much cooling and space. It's just feels wrong to spend on case+PSU more than cost my graphic card
So due to your uneasiness about something happens quite often here in the forums, you intend to give your friend bad advice.

But whatever, it's your friend's build. Not our skin if you want to give him bad advice.

Danny, I want him to give best advice :)

He is only 12 years old and don't have much money, i know for sure what he buys now it will be unchanged for many years. He won't upgrade his PC for many years due to money.

Now let's say he buys better monitor sometime in the future, like 23" with 1920x1080 and his HD7770 will be weak in several years. At the same time HD7850 is much better.

Now I read quite lot of shop reviews from people about that corsair PSU and most of them say it's good reliable PSU.

Yes but we don't know if that case will provide sufficient cooling or that PSU is good enough to make sure that PC lasts long enough for him to buy a new monitor. Not to mention we don't know what games he'll be playing in the future and whether or not those games will take advantage of multiple cores.
Now I read quite lot of shop reviews from people about that corsair PSU and most of them say it's good reliable PSU.
User reviews barely mean a thing when it comes to PSUs. Read this link for more info about what makes a good PSU review:
http://www.overclock.net/t/738097/psu-review-database

Anyway, good luck with the build.
