aight heres the lowdown

i jsut bought a new mobo and a barton 2800+

me, being hte dumbass i am, forgot to notice that the new mobo doesnt have the 4 mounting holes aorudn the cpu, so the PAL8045 i have is useless...my friend lent me a thermoengine, back from the days of the thunderbird, to use until i could get me a new heatsink....that hting keeps me at about 65 under load with some ASII on there

i wanna keep my CPU at a reasonable temperature, of course....no more than 46 or 47, with some minor OCing maybe....but i dont wanna spend $45, for a thermalright or something liek that. I was thinking the volcano 11 xaser edition....but any suggestions are welcome....thanx :D

oo...thats a pretty sexy oc

maybe i can dish out those extra few $$ =D

but...keep lower priced suggestions rollin thanx

oh another thing i forgot to mention

i dont have the 4 mounting holes around the socket  :(

so...clip only... i was thinking about the thermalright slk900a...but would it fit on a gigabyte GA 7N400 L? hmm...ill have to figure out the dimensions aroudn the socket on this thing...

there is a swifty that uses the lugs...but fuck it get a thermalrite...i forget which SLK it is..but one uses the three lugs...you should be good

SLK-800A should do ya fine. I have one on a 2500+ AQXEA 0331 oc'd on stock voltage to 3200+ with a 70mm AOC/EC Aluminum fan and AS Ceramique and my loaded temps are 87-89F after 4 hrs of DFBHD. No Load is around 80-83F with room temp at 72F.

y dont u go on newegg, find the cheaper heatsinks that lets u cool a barton 2800+ or higher, and stick a stronger fan on it, like lets say a tornado?

I dunno - I mean no disrespect to the SLKs and Tornado's of the world, but the Tt Silent Boost really does get the job done, and at a reasonable price...

the volcano 12. it retails for $38 and its a great heatsink. keeps my proc nice and cool. it has a thermalright-esque heatsink and a fan similar in performance, but on the slightly quieter and slower side to the vantec tornado.

actually, the Swiftech heatsink doesn't have support for the four mounting holes, it uses the regular socket clamp.

My bad - I always saw the tension screw and just assumed that it worked in the same way as those on the Zalman 7000...

If you wanna know how inexpensively you can get the TtSB I found it at SVC for about $25 here

Or you could go over to newegg they have it for about $34 shipped...
