Hi!
I'm very close to replacing my old CRT.
Here are the two LCD's that I have to pick from:
20" Dell UltraSharp 2005FPW
and
23" HP Flat-Panel Monitor L2335
Now, keep in mind that I'll be using them mostly for gaming
. I play a lot of Half-Life 2, CS:S, FarCry and Doom3. Which is, of course, not why I'm upgrading
OK, you got me!
Both LCD's are 16ms, both seem pretty nice, although the one by HP is bigger and is 16:9 versus 16:10 from Dell. Is that even noticeable?
Also, my system doesn't suck, but it's not the fastest one either (see sys specs). I'm worried that if I go for the HP monster my little 6800 (regular) GeForce won't be pumping games like FarCry at playable FPS it it's native 1920 x 1200 resolution. Will it do much better with Dell's native 1680 x 1050 res? Don't know. Hopefully!
From people who are playing games in widescreen, is it possible to run lower (widescreen) resolutions instead of the LCD's native ones thus resulting in somewhat better performance?
Many thanks in advance!
Relevant Sys Specs:
HP Pavilion 763n Desktop PC
P4 2.53 GHz
1GB PC2100 RAM
PNY GeForce 6800
and so on...
