Help Me Choose (Headphones)

Ok, first things first, im looking for a good multipurpose headphone, definitely gaming and a lot of music, I will be using them with a X Fi Fatality card, no amp. Ive narrowed it down to these. Sway me one or the other, please, im begging, my head cant take this any longer.

JVC-HARX900 - 68$

Sony MDR-V6 - 70$

Sennheiser HD-515 - 69$

Im not sure if any of those headphones would require a amp, but I definitely want to stay away from that. Please help.
 
JVC's out of those for SURE.

But which JVC's is the question. RX900 is good, but the cheaper RX700 (30-40$) is said to be better. At least, for music that is. I'd get those instead.

I have them, they are fine for gaming as well.
 
I have a pair of the MDR's and they are extremely good headphones. Great mids and highs. Doesn't over amplify any bass. Everything is extremely balanced with this set. And they're quite comfortable too, especially with the Beyerdynamic EDT250 velour ear pads.

i have the sony mdr-600's which is close to the v6. I've had them since 2000 and they are definitely nice, you will enjoy them. I might of went with the audio technica ath 700s for 89 bucks or so but either way you should be good.

enjoy them, the padding on mine has finally warn off.. i need new padding, but considering getting a denon 2000 instead :)

The 600's are too bass heavy compared to the V6. And they're also uncomfortable, due to their circular design, and not oval. Oh, and the cup isn't that thick, so at least for me, my ears press against the inner fabric, which makes them really warm when I tried them.

The Denon's are very very nice though, so I hear. :)

Bass heavy? I think it might of been at first with the tight fit, but as i wore it for long time, almost 9 years, bass is not heavy at all now, and the highs and mids are more enjoyable now.
Actually my ear piece is oval. not circular... it looks like a shape of an ear. the leather/pleather padding has shredded away and only the little sponge material is left :)
Yes the headphones do get uncomfortable cause of the weight and tightness.. gets warm and makes you sweat :)

As for upgrading to the Denon 2000, there always seems to be something a little bit more in price thats slightly better, to be content... seems fleeting, but I believe the denon's will be my next set and then who knows what the next will be ;)
 
Ok, just got my pair of V6's, very impressed, very very detailed and balanced, they don't overdue any particular area except mybe some harsh highs, seems to have smoothed out a little after some break in time. Anyways, as for gaming, there decent, as I said, very detailed cans. If your looking for accuracy, these will not be half bad, just dont expect a fun headphone, as I said before, they dont overdue any area including bass, if your a basshead look elsewhere, im by no means saying they have weak bass, just not overdone bass like some people like.
