hi, if anyone could help me choose a good graphics card, i would be very grateful.

first off let me tell you about my needs:

I have a really weak right eye, giving me bad vision. so i dont need the prettiest picture, just a good one. I am looking for a card under (hopefully) $200, that will play doom 3, hl2 and other new games with decent not superior graphics.
I would like this card to last with games that will be coming out for the next year.

I'd have to say atleast a 9800 XT or greater and check out your private msg :D

You can get a GeForce 6600GT-based card for around $200. That should do the trick. Just be careful which version of the card you get ... if your motherboard doesn't have PCI Express x16, don't get the PCI Express version of the card ;)

Ive seen the AGP 6600GT apollo for $188.00 shipped on pricewatch. Good bang for the buck although ive heard the memory is clocked at 900 instead of 1000.. Just install coolbits and bring it up to 1000 or higher :)

6600gt, the only reason why id get a 9800pro is if i had to get a used card.

There really is no reason to get the 9800pro or xt with the 6600GT as such reasonable prices. The 9800XT's are still way overpriced for their performance as are the 5950Ultra's.

As with most people above - the 6600GT - it can't really be beaten for its price at the moment. Should play any games currently out very well and will more than do a job for the next year at least.

If saving a small amount of cash is important, the 9800Pro is another choice, but it is comprehensively beaten by the 6600GT

Hell, I just sold my 9800XT on ebay last week for $245

these cards are very over priced. you could get a 6800NU or sometimes a 6800GT for the price of a 9800XT

Crazy isnt it? Thats why I traded my 6800GT to a guy for his 5950 and $200 cash. I only paid $400 for the GT and am going to dump it to go pci-e. I'll probably make out a little bit on the deal and had a great card to use for a while.

I hope you mean PCI-E , and not PCI. there are no PCI 6600GTs, and there never will be.
