Well, I think it’s time for me to finally stop waiting for next gen technology/counter parts to be released and just bite the dust and build myself a new pc. I currently have a very stable rock solid AMD 3500+, 1 gig of 3200 generic ram, and a beastly “AGP” x800pro flashed to XT! It’s done me good for the past 5 years or so until my system started to cry when I tried playing the newer generation games. Ok so lets get down to Business!

CPU: Q9450
I plan on doing a lot of video editing/encoding in the near future including a heavy amount of gaming. so im looking for a high end quad core build. The Q9450 comes in to mind since it introduces SSE4 and the massive amounts of cache.

RAM: 4 gigs of ???
I also like to jump into the DDR3 bandwagon since from what I’ve seen the prices seem fairly reasonable. I’d also like to do a mild overclock on the Q9450 on the system so please keep that in mind when choosing ram!

Video Card: 9800gx2 or 9800gtx
Im jumping from a x800 here so anything would be a huge upgrade! I currently have a 20 inch LG WT at 1680x1050, I would like to upgrade to a dual 22inch setup in the near future. Id love to play most of my games at max/high settings if possible. I was looking at the 9800gx2 or a single card setup, the 9800 GTX. Keep in mind that I do plan on playing with higher resolutions than 1680x1050 later on.

Games id be playing: Basically any new generation FPS/RPG, From Bioshock, crysis, COD 4 to the witcher, I also recently just got into eve-online.

Motherboard: ???
I really get lost when it comes to motherboards, need something that can provide me with a decent raid setup, and DDR3 support with the new wolfdales. keep in mind that I do plan on creating a single water loop setup for my cooling (more on that later) and plan to do a mild-heavy overclock. Doesn’t have to support SLI.

Hard Drive: 150gig raptor + 1 TB drive

I currently have a 150gig raptor in my hands and willing to get another for raid if needed, I also am in the market for a two 1TB drives! and maybe raid0 them.

Case: Silverstone TJ09 or TJ10
Since ill be jumping into watercooling im looking at the Silverstone Temjin series, looking to get a model with a side window and just enough room to fit all of my watercooling gear.

Cooling:
Like I mentioned above, id love to get into watercooling, For now I plan on running a Single loop (CPU, GPU and maybe NB/SB if needed), so a true SLI setup is out of the question!, I’m not really going to get into details on this here since I’m about to create a post on the watercooling forum and on XS for more advise, right now id like to focus on the core components of my build

I’d like to keep the price to a reasonable level, although I’m not going for a budget build. I will greatly appreciate any tips and suggestions.
Thanks!

i´d recommend to u to stick with DDR2, and with the dough you save you can buy yourself a nice 9800GX2

thanks. I guess ill stick with ddr2.

what is a decent motherboard to pair up with the q9450?
