i have problem in understanding the importance of heat sink and its placement inside the case????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
 
you cannot change the location of a heat sink, but heat sinks are what prevents your hot cpu and hot chipset and hot graphics card from bursting into flames from all the heat it creates
 
your processor is a miniature space heater. it puts out a LOT of heat. it runs SO hot that it cant even run by itself. it needs help getting rid of this heat. this is what the heatsink does. it helps the processor get rid of heat so the processor can run. the heatsink gives the processor more surface area to disspate heat(kinda like wrinkles add surface area to an elephant for cooling, but on a much smaller scale and adding a LOT more surface area). the fan on the heatsink insures air passage over the heatsink for better heat dissipation(like when the elephant fans its hears to move air over its wrinkles to stay cool cause its fuckin hot in africa)

to do all this magical heat dissipating stuff though, the heatsink has to be in direct contact with the processor. the use of thermal paste is needed to insure this contact because flat metal surfaces are not really all that flat and have lots of little bumps and ridges. the themal paste fills in these bumps and ridges and insures contact between processor and heatsink. also, to insure its tight fight, springy retention hooks are used to connect the heatsink to the motherboard and therefore the processor. please, do not use velcro to attach your heatsink to your processor.
