i'm new to vid card oc'ing. never done it before. could you guys help me make my 9600 faster? right now it's running at 324/405.

usually not.... maybe 30 mins if you get a pretty good overclock. The newest version has a thing where it will stop trying once it has stabilized at a good o/c. It prolly takes 30-45 mins to get my card from 500/600 to 610/720.

yeah, I hear coolbits works with max overclock detection too (A bit conservative, but worth a try)

paint magical go- faster stripes on it with glow pens. hey, its worth a try right?

no, what it really needs in ADDITION to those speed strips are some speed holes. "Speed Vents" if you want to call them that. Take a drill, and put some 8/32" holes in the card, at 45degree angles, in an oval pattern.

Then, get a "Type R" sticker and put that on it, or if you can silk screen it on there...even better, and make sure it's in italics.

Then, when it's all done, get some hot chick with a "lift kit" to pose in a swimsuit next to it. All the fast shit has a hot chick posing in a swimsuit in the pictures. (That's how ATI should market the new R420...they might have a slight marketing edge even if it does turn out to be inferior to the nv40)

on the serious side, check Unoids site @ http://unoid.net/9600pro/index.php

use ATITool "auto overclock" it.

Yeah, ATItool is the best thing out there right now for entry level (I don't like saying newb a lot;) ) overclockers such as yourself. Give it a go for sure, and watch the thread here on our forums for updates/help/fixes.

ATItool should help you out, and ocfaq.com has alot of info on overclocking ATI cards.

Yea, like arch said, coolbits is the best OC util for nvidia cards since well.. its built in! I just hit the button that automatically detects the max OC and it's working like a charm, havn't had any problems accept when I went over what the auto set put it at.

true...either that or they're just exercising their god given right to be an asshole.

either way, thank you's are always nice to hear.

good to hear it's running smoother for you though...but I still think you need a hot chick to pose with it. Then post the pic...it generates some "drool factor" with your newfound results :D
