Well my 4 yr old daughter decided to pull my thumb drive out as i turned my back. I heard a screech my screen went classic blue and woooosh. I reset my cmos pulled battery removed all extras.I now get no screen at all and no indication of the computer trying to post.Could pulling a thumb drive "hot" kill my computer? A dead cpu should still allow you to post to bios right? or did it kill my bios? S.O.S help

We are talking about a thumb drive here right? They were made to be super floppy/ rewritable disks. Saying "I hotswapped my usb flash drive and my system died" is like saying "I popped out my disk tray, FUCK!".

Were you running any executable files on the drive before it was pulled?

I vote for a 26th trimester abortion in retaliation.

It's possible, but unlikely. Being only four, my guess is that she twisted as she was pulling, which might have shorted the +5V line on the USB plug with something else, either a data pin on the same cable or just a ground. Either way, if that's what happened, your motherboard has a pretty bad headache right now. Apart from that, the rest of your rig should be fine.

If that is a case mounted USB port disconnect the cable for it from the motherboard and try again. Check your USB port for damage.

I was using hp flash bootdisk tool at the time. No damage to the usb ports from the looks of it I disconnected the front panel ones from the motherboard anyways. Then after removing everything took one stick of mem put it in and it booted it did a checkdisk and it moved some files didnt say it had any bad sectors but it booted. So I shut down put other stick in and nothing had to reset cmos and wait b4 it would boot again. Its acting wierd as hell HD bad? mem? or board. I think its a sign from god telling me to upgrade but I really didnt want to just yet.

No, a dead CPU would not let the system POST. You can only get into the BIOS after the system POSTs (power on self-test). Your CPU should not be dead.

Were you were flashing something?

DL, and burn the memtest86+ v1.7 ISO image file. Then, run memtest overnight. Test each stick individually (at least a few passes per stick; preferably 8hrs or more per 1GB). It will look like this if it was a successful run...

Your thread title made me think of Homer and Bart, lol.

well its the motherboard everything checks out fine but when i flx the mother board it bsod on me so I will be parting my rig for a new build. I think the thumb drive thing was just a hqppened at the same time thing.

This sounds like the potential cause. Decent write-up!
