Im having bios problems:

Cpu temp in bios and uguru show 0 degrees, I clear cmos then it will read the temperature right untill the computer is shut down and rebooted again then the problem is back.

The other problem is while in the bios, I will go to save and exit after disabling onboard sound and loading optimized defaults the computer trys to restart but hangs and never posts but system fans are running. I have to hold power button down till the computer shuts off then turn it back on then it works.

Other then these problems computer works fine, I have updated to latest Bios for the motherboard. Thanks for any help.

specs are
Q6600, ip35-pro, 4gb Gskill ddr2 800, SB Aud2 ZS, corsair hx520, Vista 64

Do you have the 8-pin connector attached to the mobo? You can try it with only 2 sticks of memory and see what happens. If it still does it then flash back to the previous bios and try again.

I have 2x 2gb of memory, i've tryed going back to original bios does the same thing. I have the 8 pin and 24pin connectors installed as well as the power by the pci express. I just unhooked all the cables and reattached them all and still doing the same thing.

If i edit the bios, save and exit it restarts and hangs on C1 on the post display on the mobo indefinately. Sometimes when i power off and power back on I'll get a cmos checksum error and settings will go back to fail safe, so i'd have to go back into the bios. What a headache.

Nothing is overclocked.

When you updated the bios, did you unplug the power and clear the CMOS after you finished flashing it?

I've heard about alot of boards that refuse to let the new bios take, and the user even remove the battery from the board and let it sit for 10minutes or so.

Try it without the audio card. Creative is a mess lately. Uninstall any drivers for it and use the on-board sound (or none at all for now).

I would try flashing the bios again either to the latest or the previous. Start by loading setup defaults, power down, unplug psu power cord, press start button to discharge all capacitors, clear cmos via jumper, remove battery for an hour or so, reinstall battery, put jumper back to normal position, flash bios, load set up defaults again, reboot. When you reboot have only the 1 stick of memory in the slot closest to the CPU socket, your vga card, one hard drive, and cpu installed in mobo.

If this doesn't work your bios chip may be borked. I suppose the battery could be shot too.

I figured out the problem, I got a new version 1.1 mobo and it apparently comes with bios 14 and i unknowingly "updated" it to the best version available at abit's website to dl which was version 11. I found a download for 14 and all is well. Any people buying a new ip35-pro don't download anything from abit its all old crap that will mess up ur bios.

1. You should have noticed that you were using a BIOS earlier than that on the board already.
2. you obviously weren't looking at the correct abit site (I'm guessing abit USA rather than abit Global? abit USA's site is a bit of an orphan atm).

see 2. above.
There's actually a 16 beta that's supposed to be rather good & which is linked in the abit USA forum Beta BIOS section.

I have bios 11, and the problem i am having is with that damn speed step, i disabled it in the biso and my CPU still jumps from 1.5 to 2.4 in windows...

should be under CPU features in the BIOS iirc.
Personally, I would leave them enabled to allow running a higher Vcore (to combat Vdrop/Vdroop) under load whilst running lower Vcore when idle.

QFT!

Buff I went and installed the beta 1.6 bios for my ip35 pro, but I can't find any info on it/changes etc.

So far so good, except my temps are way lower than they actually are, they read 32C for the cpu but EVEREST reads my cores at 45-43-44-47 which is probably the same as coretemp would say.

Weird thing is everest also has a 'CPU' temp that reads 24! I go by the EVEREST core readings, fyi, which didn't get over 71 after 11 hours priming last night.

Anyway, any links for info on the beta bios?

Also, anyone else have this beta bios installed?
