Hi all,
I am looking to build a 2TB LVM/Raid-5 based machine. I am thinking of getting 1GB RAM, maybe an Athlon 4400+, 4 Seagate 500GB disks. I am still stuck on the kind of cooling and case I would need for the configuration. I also want to be able to expand the storage to 4TB over time. So my thinking is it would be good to have a 8 slot expandable area in the tower. I would really appreciate it if people could give ideas on what configuration (case, powersupply, CPU, etc.) worked for them and what performance are they getting on the system.
Also I was thinking would it be practical to run subversion or some other kind of source code control system on the same machine since it's otherwise not doing anything more than serving files. I have around 8-10 people who would be accessing this system at the same time.
