SO i know now that i am dumb for buying an aspire psu for great looks n good reviews

but anyways i need aome help i am really confused n i'm pretty sure this is a psu problem hope u guys can help me
in a nut shell my computer randomly restarts u kno good ol BSOD
long ways i have tried formatting the harddrive figuiring it was windows but now that def didn;t help i have pretty crappy RAM so that could be the problem but i have this psu

^ the beloved antec tru power
so is this the right choice for me?
i think my specs are in my sig with windows XP pro

I'd first take voltage ratings with a digital meter (not software) because your problem may be something else entirely.

Why, especially before checking the voltages the right way?

i have pretty crappy RAM
Do you mean it's failed memory diagnostics? If so, you need to fix this problem first, either by changing BIOS settings or replacing it. Even one bad bit is too many.

no my bad it has passed memtest for like 12 hrs

and i am not quite sure how i would take readings with a volt meter

have these random restarts ever happened to anyone else
what might be causing this i'm out of ideas n itz not heat my temps are all cool
also the BSOD is usually different like page fault in non pages area n sum others i forget

I would say everything that you've said is realted to a crappy PSU and that unfortunately the Aspire PSUs are sucky.

I would read the PSU stickies on here and get an idea of what PSU to get. I would not skimp on a PSU and £45-55 ($75-85) will get you a decent system

any ideas of what to do with my old aspire power supply
can't really sell it to anyone cuz itz messed up so should i RMA it to try to get a replacement then have that?

Did you also try Gold Memory? Because I've had modules pass one of those diagnostics but not the other.

To measure voltages with a meter, have its black lead plugged into the meter's COMmon socket, its red lead into the Volts/Ohms jack, and switch the meter to read DC volts (VDC or V with a straight or dashed line above it, as opposed to VAC or ~V, which is for AC volts). If the meter isn't auto ranging, select the 10V scale. Next, connect the black meter lead's tip to any black wire, and the red lead's tip to the voltage you want to measure: orange wire for +3.3V, red for +5.0V, or yellow for +12V.
