I'm trying to hook up headphones to the front sound output jack on my pc. Using Vista, how do I enable hem so they work, and block the rear output from working while the front is enabled?

The rear goes to my monitor speakers, and I only want 1 on at a time. If both are plugged in, I only want the front.

Thanks

1. What's your sound card?
2. Do you have any jumpers connected to the front connectors on your case?

Most sound cards auto detect if something is in the front, and disable the connector in the back, just so you know.

I am using onboard sound that came with my mobo, I have jumpers...i think, cause I can still hear through headphones.

Ok, if you're getting sound out of the front ports, double check to make sure that you have all of the appropriate jumpers connected, not just the ones for L/R. What's your board? I see no reason why you wouldn't be able to do what you want, but checking the manual wouldn't be a bad idea at all.

I don't see anything in the manual about the audio jumpers. So I don't know where they are.

I have an Evga 6801 a1 122-ck-nf68 mobo.

Whould the jumper be by the audio connector on the mobo?

Look on p. 24 of your manual (here if you don't know where it is). I believe you need to have pins 6 & 7 jumped.

I don't have any jumpers, and it looks like all those ports are already plugged in, so whatever... thanks for the help though
