I recently just bought a Asrock 4coredual-VSTA pt800 ultra http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=23274&vpn=4CoreDual-VSTA&manufacture=ASRock

and i have a E4300 retail CPU chip

now when i installed it my core temps are abit to high
Core 0-46-47
Core 1- 49-51
this is under TAT=Thermal Analysis Tool and when i start a work load my temp shoots up to 60's

my brother just built a computer with same CPU and hes running at 2.4 mhz and idles around 30-40 temps at 2.4 mhz

on my mobo i dont think i properly installed the Heatsink, cause the 3 bolts are rock solid and 1 of them is loose and i think that might be causeing these temp problems
 
Yup that would cause that. Do yourself a favor and get a 3rd party heatsink, the Intel one suck anyway...

The heatsink install could definitely be not right. I just installed my first C2D before.

In the first attempt, the instant I got into bios I was reported at 56C CPU temp. Within seconds it climbed to 62C (this is idle mind you). I never installed a C2D before so getting the heatsink correctly setup was new to me. The other temps looked normal (high 20s, low 30s).

This thing is such a sob to get on correctly. 4 hours later, I'm idling at 32C (stock heatsink), which I think it reasonable considering my room temp is quite hot.

The best way I can describe on how to get it installed right for sure is, check the back of your motherboard. If all 4 black plastic pins (the vertical pins that are "inside" the white "expanders") are nearly flush with the tip of the white plastic "expanders" then they are snapped in correctly. If one of them is not, it's definitely not working right. In my case, 2 of them were not flush (but it felt like it was connected solid) when I was getting 60C idle temps.

Btw it's worth taking the whole thing apart to check this. I ended up doing it 3 times. :D
 
dont worry abooiut temps , nothing wrong with them , they are core temps which means more that what they are stated , your brothers core temp will be much higher.

Do not worry until 90 c on core temp , you will be surprised how much heat a silicon can take . My gpu runs at 96c (8800gtx XXX0 )and i was told i dont need to worry till 140c
 
well i took it apart put the Heatsink back on, all 4 tabs are rock solid on and still haveing the same temps
 
Well I changed my CPU MHZ to 266 for a 2.8ghz cpu and its running stable and still same temps as if i was on 1.8 ghz stock settings and my V is running from and to 1.240v-1.295v's somtimes 1.300's v
 
What kind of thermal compound did you use on the heatsink? You might just have put too much on there. It doesn't take much.
I think it should run cooler than that myself.
 
The type of compound i used was what was given to me on the bottom of the Intel Stock Heatsink that came with the E4300
