I'm about to place an order for the compnents to build an all new computer, and unfortunately I am on a budget, so money IS everything.
Through reading on this and one other board I have made decisions on every other part except the mobo, mainly because I've gotten so many conflicting opinions.

I plan on using the system for a litte gaming, internet, buring some DVDs, and lots of other random stuff.
I'm going to be using an AMD Athlon 64 cpu and I've been convinced that PCI Express is the way to go. Most liekly a 6600GT video card will be purchased.
I do not plan on doing any overclocking.

I've been reading up on the new Soltek PCI Express equiped "SL-K890Pro-939" VIA K8T890" mainly because of it's value. It's a very reasonably priced board and all the reviews I've read have been glowing.

Some have said go DFI, others Asus and a couple of other manufacturers.
I really do not want to spend another $80-$100 on a motherboard, especially when the only real differences that have been touted to me are their abilities to overclock which I'm not interested in.
What I DO want is a reliable motherboard.

Your thoughts please.... :)

in my quest to find a board, it seems that the soltek is a wonderful board to get, or the msi neo board, but my decision is to stick with agp for now, until pci-e's comes down in price

Well, the Soltek board is $122, so if the Gigabyte board is a little better and only $3 more, that sounds like a great deal!

I had not considered the Gigabyte board before now.

Sharik, I do not mind spending $100 or even $150 on a board if I have to, but anything over $150 is really pinching my budget, so if the Gigabyte board is a good, reliable board, that thats perfect. And I see it even have limited overclocking abilities if I should decide to 'try my hand' at it. (but I doubt it LOL)

Thanks
