hey guys, i recently got my new system

athlon 64 4200+ x2
asus m2n-e mobo
(currently)2x512 legend 533 ddr2 ram (I know it sucks)
asus 7900gs

the cpu idles at 33-35 degrees (depending on the air temp in my room)
load about 46-49

so what i did

1: went into the bios and set the HT link multiplier to X4, to keep it under 1000 mhz
2: set a divider on the ram to "ddr2 400"
3: set the vcore voltage to 1.35 volts in the bios manually.
booted windows
4: with ai overclock installed, i increased the fsb to 220mhz(x11), let it sit there for a while
after a few minutes it dies and resets

*edit* i just did a tiny OC to 2.3 ghz, and it seems to be sitting fine

surely my cpu can do 2.4ghz on stock voltage? is there something i'm missing?
if you need anymore info to help me, just ask

cheers :)

Try the overclock in the BIOS. Start at 215FSB and work up after you determine that's stable.

If in doubt, up the Vcore. It's not gonna do you any harm.

cheers dude, just by doing the same setting from the bios works.. :)

so i needed 1.4 volts to keep it at 2.5, bootable
but it was only prime stable for 2 hours before prime quit out

the bios/aibooster says its really 1.45 volts and "1.35" is more like 1.4
how much more juice can this thing take?
