Help finding a pump please.

I was originally planning on buying the DD12V-D4 but with its huge flowrate I heard it will cause problems with a dual 3.5 bay res. Because of that, I'm looking for a good pump that won't cause problems. Perhaps a bit lower GPH, but one that won't cause my temps to rise (or if it does, not by much, and if you know the diff I'd appreciate it). Thanks a bunch, I really want to start ordering :).
 
If you want to save some money, I recommend you buy a Via Aqua 1300 pump from D-Tek.

Not only is it cheap but it performs very well too. I'm currently using it myself on my DangerDen NV-68 loop.

The only bad thing is that the thing is pretty loud--not because of the pump itself but rather due to its vibrations. The noise must've been around 50 dba!!

After being totally disappointed in my purchase due to the noise level, I luckily found a website where they show you how to mod the Via 1300 to make it silent. Here's the tutorial.

I was initially skeptical but after trying it--which took only 15 minutes--I couldn't believe it!! Totally silent!!

So, for the low price and high performance, and absolute silence, I heartily recommend the Via 1300. (No, I don't work for Via Aqua, I'm in the pharmaceuticals). :)

I've had 2 of these, and I will not buy another. After one of them died on me after about a year, I attributed it to crap in my water (looking back, probably not. My second one lasted about 1.5 years, and just recently crapped out on me. Now I'm pretty dissaitisfied, I'd suggest getting something a little more costly, but more reliable. I just got an Eheim 1250 and it's great so far. More power, and also much quieter than the 1300s.
 
I second zer0signal667's opinion. I've had 3 Via Aqua 1300 that have all crapped out on me.

First one died from blockage. Totally my fault.

Second one clacked and I did the mod mentioned above. Pump jittered to life, but eventually just jittered and never started up fully.

Third one I just got about 2 months ago. Worked great, even with the mod. But I had to remod it after my superglue failed and its back to a jittering non-starting pump.

The second and third pumps had no intake restriction cause I mounted it on the side of my custom reserviour that holds about 1/4 of a gallon. Excessiveness!

I just got myself a Hydor L30 and in the process of making an additional reserviour for it. (Glue is Drying) The current reserviour is too small at swirls. The L30 is even quieter than the 1300, but its also sitting on foam so that might be the deciding factor.

It would suffice, but I believe the Danner Mags are prone to leaking through the O-ring that seals the intake housing to the pump body. I know this is a problem with the Mag 5's at least, and I think the Mag3 uses the same basic design.
Many people use them though, you just might want to seal the housing with silicone or some other goop before a leak sprouts.
 
Maxi-Jet 1200! 295gph, very quiet, and costs only about $20

I have the 600 model (160gph) and it works great for my loop (2 blocks and large heater core)
 
DD d4 or Swiftech 650, same pump, different name. I'm using the DD D4 370 GPH version with a DD bay rez without any problems. The new DD D4 has a bit less flow (317 GPH) and not near as loud.
 
I think I'm still going to get a Via Aqua 1300 pump to tide me over a couple of months until I get a DD d4 or Swiftech 650.
 
I've had my 1300 for almost 2 years now no problems. I didn't do the mod, but mine is quite. I dont even notice it running. The only time it is load is startup for about 2 secs. My only complaint about the this pump is it runs HOT. I've read a couple reviews saying its a great pump and all but the temp the pump gets to heats up the water that flows through it. Just for that reason i say get something other than a via 1300.
