so i decided that i'm gonna try and buy and build my own computer. i decided i want a nice gaming rig that's in the 700-850$ range (please make sure 850$ is the MOST). i have a nice monitor already from my sister's old computer (19" viewsonic flat screen crt). i found the following components from new egg and was wondering if you could help fix em around. this will be my first ever computer (i'm only 16!) and i already have 150$ saved up, and it will be 250$ by the end of the week :) . so should i buy parts individually or buy them altogether at once? keep in mind i need speakers, a mouse, fans/heatsinks, and all wires i might need. (and maybe even winxp). i'm thinking about getting a dvd burner but i think i can wait til i get more money and buy it from best buy when they have a sweet deal or something. the following is what i found at newegg:

case: Aspire X-Dreamer II(Blue)ATX Mid-Tower Case w/ 350W Power Supply,Model ATXB4KLW-BL/350W,Retail.

nice choice :)

as for the 9600XT: DO know that this vid card is not "Top of the Line" but is is very good, dont complain if ur 3DMark01 is low or whatever and yes it does come with Half-Life 2

Yes, setup looks nice, although the power supply may be questionable. 3dMark is a worthless benchmark:rolleyes:

i agree power supply is somethign you should probably replace with a quality one.

what about sound, is onboard sound ok? i'm not a diehard enthusiast who needs tons of sounds, it's going into my room and my parents will be home alot, i'll use headphones alot probably anyway. any graphics cards do yuo think'd be better than 9600xt? maybe geforcefx 5900 128mb non ultra?

Onboard sound is perfect unless you are an enthusiast (or want to brag about your $200 sound card.)

Between the 9600XT and the geforcefx 5900 non ultra I would go with the 9600XT.

But if you get a 5900 ultra I'm pretty sure its better (I think i've seen a benchmark some where that showed it performed better, but I just can't find it at the moment so if i'm wrong someone correct me.)

Also get a better PSU.
