Help diagnose ESXi 4 error

I'm trying to load esxi 4 in workstation 6.5.3. Each time I tried to load it up I kept getting a lvmdriver error. So I thought it was the on-board nic so I bought the Intel Pro GT off newegg. I'm still getting the same error so I decided to do more research. I found that you can press alt+f12 and get more detail information.

Here is the picture of the desktop showing the error. I'm guessing that I'm getting this error because of my SATA controller.

If the issue is a SATA controller issue then does anybody know what's the cheapest SATA controller to purchase?

lvm = logical volume manager
storage controller failure in the workstation vm, inside the esxi4 installer. you need to change your virtual disk and disk controller to a supported type for esxi4 installation, like sas or scsi. the issue is not the underlying hardware, it's what kind of disc you told the vm inside of workstation it had.

you should find a guide for running esxi4 inside of workstation, and follow it. I'm guessing you selected the wrong guest OS profile, and it chose a virtual disk and disk controller that would not normally be esxi4 compatible.

on the bright side, you now have an extra NIC...SHINY!

has to be scsi, and make sure you enabled the right stuff from xtravirt.
