Hi all thinking of buying a new video card for a eyefinity setup. I currently have 2 5770 crossfired cards in my comp. they cant seem to handle gaming in eyefinity mode :( . So I was thinking of upgrading to either a 6870. 6950, or 6970 card. Want to try and keep the expense down as much as I can but still want the best performance I can. Any opionions or comments on this would be appreciated.

What res you using, 5760x1080? Tbh, for eyefinity I'd say grab a pair of 6950s if you can. Just one 6950 isn't going to be enough really, as it's barely 10% faster than your crossfired 5770s.

Yes at 5760 X 1080 res was trying to get away with just 1 card now and get a second later if I could. Was kinda leaning towards the 6950 or 6970 but also thought the 6870 might be a good choice.

Well, you can 'get away with' almost anything for 5760x1080, it depends what you play. CS:Source is going to run fine on just one HD5770 at 5760x1080, whereas Bad Company 2 and upwards are going to be basically unplayable at that res even with one 6950, and AA turned off.

yeah thats why I was thinking of getting the 6970 but if even that wont play BC 2 at decent rates then I can try and get to 6950s

Depends on the settings you use. A single HD6970 will certainly be in the frame rate duldrums without both AA and HBAO disabled, and even then it will be far from silky smooth. Two HD6950s will be enough to get you decent frame rates with AA or HBAO in use, but if you like your 60fps, you still won't be able to use both. People underestimate just how demanding 5760x1080 is.
