I was gaming on a 8600GTS up until a few months ago. I quickly sold it thinking I was going to be able to pick up a 5850. Then prices went nuts, shortages happened, soup kitchens set up shop...uhh yeah you get the point.

So now I sit in a pickle. I have these three choices currently, I'm all for the biggest bang for my buck. I don't really care for top of the line. Currently I've been looking at used.

These are my choices

EVGA 01G-P3-1180-AR GF GTX 285 1GB for $200
( Yes it's a steal)

SAPPHIRE 100283L Radeon HD 5770 (Juniper XT) 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 for $169.99

Sapphire HD 4870 1GB for $120.00

Now if you could choose, what would you pick.

Sapphire 4870.

It is faster than the 5770 and is a great card. Only downside is no dx11 and a little more power draw. Out of the cards it has by far the best price/performance ratio.

What size is your monitor anyway? The 4870 does well even at 1920x1200/1080

that is easy, go with the gtx285 , it's a no brainer, it has so much more raw horsepower that it would kill anythng you would throw at it!

this isn't even a afterthought, grab that 285 or send me the link

i have had the 5870 and still have 5770's and a gtx260 and i can say for sure that gtx285 is just light years ahead of the other 2

Yea, the GTX 285 is going to be the fastest but I'm not sure if it's enough to justify the added price because a 5770 is ~= to a 4890 and if you OC it, they're about as fast as a 285.

Then I was possibly thinking about going CF with 2 5770's. 285 is a beast though. It pretty much puts the other two cards to shame. Really is directx 11 worth it right now?
