I've been having this problem with dark lines developing on my LCD for awhile.
I was wondering if anyone knows of a fix or what exactly the lines are about.

When I turn on the LCD, the dark lines are not there, but within an hour it's very noticeable.
You can imagine watching movies or playing games being very annoying with a moving picture and static lines.

LCD is a Dell 2005FPW 20.1" Widescreen - IPS Panel

It was purchased in January 2005 and the warranty is no longer available.

Thanks in advance.

overheating?... first time seeing this phenomena ... seen cases of liquid crystals leaking/fungal growth on the liquid within the panel (both which is not the cause here)

The overheating was my first thought Askanison2, because the lines would appear within an hour of having the LCD on.
I may try removing the shell just as a last resort to see if heat is the issue, and also look for dust build up.

General Crespin, our issue sounds the same to some degree, especially the flaw being very noticeable on shades of grey backgrounds.
It's just that the dark lines are gone if I turn my LCD off for a few hours, and return when the LCD is on for awhile.
