Ok, so I recently picked up a "null modem" cable off a website which I forgot the name. Anyways, it had a db-9 female to a db-9 male end... I've been reading online all null-modem cables should be female-to-female. Hum, ok.

So anyways, my PC's serial port has a male connection only... and my switch has a female port only...so I don't see how I could ever use a female-to-female null modem cable. To make things short, I've tried connecting to this switch (and actually 2 other switches), and using three different computers and I still can't access any of the switch's consoles.

Is there something I'm missing? All settings through hyperterminal were set to what the manuals of the switches state, 9600, 8, n, 1, off.

Can anyone shed some light?

what switch are you connecting to? you can also get some gender changers to get what you need may is be 25 pin or 9pin male or female...

2x D-Link 24-port DES-3226 and a MiLan S36580.

There's no option to use an LPT port in Hyperlink.
