Ok, heres the deal. I built a budget rig with an a64 2800+, 512m PQI PC3200 ram, Seagate 120G S-ATA drive, and K8M800-MLVF micro atx board, in an antec case with a 350w PSU.

This morn, mom's computer was off, prolly due to power outtage, but none of the appliances were reset. I thought, oh, mines fine, it's on. So I went over, checked it, and when i moved the mouse, nothing. The monitor got no signal. I restarted. No beep, no signal. I can hear the hdd moving a bit, tho. I put my head down in there, and i heard a tiny beep when it booted. My dad thought he smelled something hot last night, so I am afraid. No burn marks are present, however. And, the integrated net card WAS giving me a connect on my router.

Any assistence would be worth gold to me. Thanks, all!

Do you smell anything coming from inside of the case, burned computer parts have a strong smell, you will definetly be able to tell.

All the fans spin up right?

Does the system LED on the board light up? (If it has one of course)

The first thing I would probablly do is reset the cmos. IF all the fans are running, and you believe you are getting power to the board.

I would agree to reset the CMOS. You might as well just unplug your system for a while before reconnecting. If nothing works, try to take out parts and test each component on another PC and pray for the best.

Thanks!

No smell. Dad thought he smelled something last night, but the computer doesnt smell.

It has been unplugged for HOURS. Gana do a cmos reset now. I'll just remove the bios battery and reset it.

Doesn't have a simple jumper to reset it?

Yeah its a very apparent smell if you burn up a chip, you definetly would have noticed.

I don't like the reset pins :) my fat hands do deal well with them.

When i restarted, the screen was all scrambled, but i found out about that after i got home. I'll post a pic later. Now she's fine! Halelujah!

I never thought i'd say it, but flashing gets you far in life :p
