i need help badly. i'm using the computer in my sig. it was working fine and i left it on while i went to the store because it was installing something. my sister took the printer cable out and connected it to the other computer while both were still turned on. the cable is one of those parallel cables. when i came home, the computer was turned off. the red light from the motherboard is turned on so its getting power. I try to push the power button and the cpu fan, side fan, power supply, and motherboard gets power for like 2 seconds and then it shuts down. the motherboards red light is still turned on though. can someone please tell me whats going on? thanks

Disconnect everything except cpu, one stick of ram, video card, power supply, and power switch, clear cmos, then try it again. If that doesn't work retry using different of the above parts one at a time except the cpu. I would think that since it just died and won't turn on again for more than 2 secs, it is the PSU or the mobo. What PSU do you have?

i disconnected the power supply wires that went to everything except the motherboard. it worked as i added 1 wire at a time. but when i got to the last one, it wouldnt turn on. is my power supply bad? can this be fixed or do i need a new one? i was thinking about getting the antec sonata case on black friday, do u think that that power supply is good enough? if not, do you have any suggestions? i want to spend at the most 100 for the case and power supply. thanks

The Sonata is fine. It has a 350w antec trupower which is much better than your omega 430w. The Omega is obviously the culprit, and although you may need more than the 350w antec which comes with the sonata, I highly doubt it. If it is not enough, just sell if and get a higher rated PSU of a brand and type listed in the sticky at the top of this forum.
