help cleaning up picture

I took this picture today at work, of a Cessna 310 framed on takeoff by the tankers it serves
as a birddog for. Unfortuneately, there's a lot of purple bleed around the Piper Navajo on the
left of the picture. Can anyone clean it up, or (preferably) point me to a site showing how to
do it in The GIMP?

 


All I did, other than the color enhancements, was: Select the area that you want to fix with about a 20px feathered lasso, open up Hue/Sat and select Magenta/Blue or any other color "ranges' that you want to fix and slide the saturation slider appropriately. This was in Photoshop CS2.
 
I'll remember in the future not to help anybody else in this Photochop section.

Everything I've done in this subforum I've never gotten a response, nor a quick, small "thanks."

Its not that I need other people's praise, but after helping with countless threads with not a single thank you, you wouldn't like it either.

Was your comment really necessary? Especially bumping a topic from over four months back..

4 months? wow, your right........ and it was still on page one for me.

Chances are, your right.... I probably misread your post and thought you were saying something else (same thing, diffrent meanings). If that's the case, just ignore my last post.
