Ok since my rig is pretty old and pretty much maxed out, I have decided to upgrade one more time.

Which of these do you think would be the better buy?

Now I know they aren't much, but they are the highest PCI cards I could find. Please don't respond by saying that I should just upgrade my whole computer (I don't have that option at the moment, nor do I believe that I will upgrade until at LEAST next october).

Thanks for your input.

absolutly no point in the 256 version of the 5200. out of the two i would go with the 9200se since its a 8500 basically which is going to be a bit better in the aa/af department. either will be ok. i know you dont want us to say this but frys has mobo/cpu combos for only 40 bucks. this past week it was a 2400 and a ECS mobo it had 4 pci and a agp slot. just a suggestion.

Hmm you have a good point on the memory. But I would never go with a SE version of ATI :), regular version all the way!

Yeah I was thinking of something like the mobo/cpu combo. My only thing about it is that if I was to purchase something like that, I would like to upgrade my whole computer at once rather than slowly. If I was to replace my computer (which is the only thing I can do, old Dell and such) I would like to go at least midrange, which is why I am waiting to get some good money for when I do finally replace it.

Edit: And Frys is literally 1000 feet away from my house :)

i meant regular :( hire someone if you pay them something maybe price + 20 bucks or call your aunt Patty in houston. be creative ;)

Any thing past $100USD would be overkill, so you can rule out the "BFG nVIDIA GeForce FX5200 Video Card, 256MB DDR, 128-bit, TV Out, PCI, Model "ASLM52256P".
Since the Powercolor 9200 has 256MB at the same price, go with that one. Although I remember that PCI cards with 128MB or higher don't really matter much. It's the memory width that counts.
If you check Tomshardware they did a comparison between the FX5200 and ATI9200 one or two years ago. The test consists both cards in AGP versions but you'll get a good idea which is better.

9200 is the 9000, different beast than the 8500. Pretty weak, not much difference between the 9000/9200 and the 5200 from what I've seen. Both value cards that do the bare minimum.

Geforce 4 440 MX outperforms the 5200 about half the time, less features but more power.
Find a 9100 or 8500 PCI (9100 is the 8500 LE rebadged) for the best PCI card out.

The only card worth considering for a pci slot, if you are a gamer, is the Radeon 9100 pci. Search for "9100 pci" @ Pricewatch to find resellers because Newegg doesn't have it.
