Help! Can't delete exe file???

I can't delete this strange exe file on my computer. The file was a music video in mpg format but then randomly changed to exe. After looking at the properties I can see that it is designed to run in MSDOS!!! what the heck is this? I didnt click it and run it. I know its gotta be some kind of virus. When I try to delete it, it says its being used by another program and I need to shut it down. But I can't find what program it is! I go to my windows task manager and see nothing that looks out of the ordinary. I don't understand. How do I get rid of this exe file? thanks
 
Try safemode once and see if you can delete it then. Sometimes just rebooting gives you access if it resides in memory.
 
If it says its in use it could already be running in the background of your computer. Probably a virus.

Download a shareware copy of NOD32 and do a full scan.
 
If all else fails, use a Live Linux CD, like Knoppix, that should do the trick if nothing else does.
