Wow, I really screwed myself over a stupid mistake.... The unistallation of Nforce2 drivers while thinking that XP will default on generic drivers. The twist is that I used DriverCleaner 2 to clean up all the traces of Nforce2 Files.

Now, it boots into XP, but returns an error saying that one of the nv files are either missing or corrupt. Is there anything I can do to remedy this critical problem? There are some important files I need for school thats on there.....

I have Lindows on my secondary hd, but I cannot access the NTFS partition for some reason. I'm a Linux Newbie, so no help there.

I'm able to boot using the XP Pro Disc and enter into "repair" mode. I have access to the hd under C:/WINDOWS/, but I have no idea how to use this advantage to reinstall nvidia drivers or to do something to recover anything. It's in a pure-DOS environment.

Hopes this is enough info....

I need to backup more often..... Damn it.

make a new proportion for the new xp and backup and delete the old proportion

boot up in safe mode and choose a generic VGA driver in the display options.

wait, isnt he talking about chipset drivers? I don't know anything about nforce 2 boards, but I thought it was the chipset.

I've seen people with problems in safe mode also. They used VGA mode which boots fasterand were able to solve the problem.

Well, I guess I didn't explain my problem that well....

cannot boot in XP at all..... NOT even in safe mode or last known configuration
option.....

I only get an error that I explained above and it reboots.

Yes, it is the chipset drivers that I am having problems with.... Ironically, my installation of ATI drivers forced me to reinstall nvidia drivers because I kept gettin VGASave mode on my card, rather than the "Standard VGA" driver. I tried enabling VGA Mode, no go. So, I uninstalled the Nforce 2 drivers and I guess, cleaned it too well.

I was using a suggestion from the sticky over at rage3d.com forums.

What do you mean by "proportion"? I suppose, you mean, partition?

Unforunately, I only have like 1 gb left on my 80 gb hd... so, I don't think this would help at all..... Unless I'm wrong.

A snowball rolling down the hill.... getting bigger and bigger.....

***UPDATE***
I finally was able to access the NTFS partition under Linux, (Read-Only.) So, I'm in the process of recovering files and burning them to disc.

I'm still up for getting XP back online.....

ok, I misread NForce2 as GForce2. my bad.

I guess a re-install of XP into the same directory should work, just need to reinstall all your programs again.
