HELP!! Cancun pictures may be lost -- memory card error

we just got back from the vacation of our lives. we went diving at Cozumel and then went through Playa Del Carmen and Cancun. I uploaded 2/3's of our pictures to our laptop. but the last day of pictures may be lost. I have a Canon powershot A95 with a 512 mb compact flash memory card. I can not upload or view my pictures. I get a "memory card error" message. I tried putting the card in another camera and I get the same message. the camera tells me I have like 3.8 mb of space on the card. but I know it is less than half full.

The pictures are not yet uploaded are of Cancun and the ferry ride back to Cozumel to catch our plane.

any ideas??????

Do other memory cards work in the camera? Do you have another card reader? Use a card reader to get your photos rather than use the camera.

if the card turns out to be corrupted somehow, the data recovery tools that get stuff off of formatted hard drives will also work on a flash drive

yes. other cards work in the camera. I'll try a card reader and get back to you.

card reader doesn't even see the memory card.

my geeky coworkers tell me I'm screwed

maybe it is time for a new camera???

^^Is right. If you can get the memory card to be seen by a card reader then you can do a "quick format" and run this utility.
http://www.recovermyfiles.com/ As long as the data has not been overwritten you should be good.
