My keyboard keeps randomly "dying" whenever I leave the computer idle for a long period of time. I don't have it hibernate/sleep, only the screen saver comes on, then the monitor shuts down, then the hard drives spin down. If I unplug the keyboard and plug it back in, all is well. Doesn't seem to matter which USB port I use, and I have a USB mouse and printer that both work fine. Box specs are:

Shuttle SP35P2 Pro
Q6600 @ 3.0ghz
4GB RAM
8800GT
Vista 64
Couple hard drives, an optical drive, and a partridge in a pear tree.

Any ideas? I'm assuming the keyboard is just rotten, but don't understand why it'd come back to life and work for hours by just re-plugging it in.

Thanks!

Probably an issue with the HD shutdown you are using and then windows not bringing back the USB driver correctly. Try disabling that and seeing if that fixes your problem

I thought of that, but assumed it would interfere with more than just the keyboard. I did turn it off in the power setting, but it had no effect.
